Homemade, fresh muffins and bagels. Fresh and tasty, we also had the veggie cream cheese. Will go here again!

We stopped by one day in the mood for a nice fluffy cupcake or a nice slice of cake. We found neither. The bakery counter had not much to offer - a few cookies, a brownie or two, and many empty serving platters. The prices were quite high for the serving sizes. The menu board listed more types of coffee and other drinks than the variety of baked goods - and most of the baked good plates were empty.
Not impressed.

I am visiting family and needed a good place to do some work with internet access. The staff could not be more of a reminder how life should be. Great coffee drinks and baked goods served with a great attitude. Worth a stop to check out for sure

Took a day trip out to Princeton on Father's Day. While we were there, we wanted to try a coffee shop and bakery that was featured in a magazine article for UIC alumni. The article was short, but we were curious, and wanted to try something new, so we stopped in for some coffee and treats. I had a caramel latte and a honey wheat bagel, as well as my husband, who had the same bagel and he had an iced coffee. The bagels are homemade vs. the cookie cutter bagels and we both liked our coffees. The selection is somewhat limited, but we still bought one of everything to bring home! (Such as sour cream cheddar twists, almond joy scones, two large oatmeal, chocolate chip, m&m, & peanut butter cookies, pumpkin cinnamon muffin, be sure to enjoy the glaze!) This place is adorable. It is bright and modern and it feels comfortable, but not cluttered. A great place to grab some coffee and read a book or the newspaper, or chit chat with friends. There are three chalkboards in the back by the bathroom. One features the local doings, and the other was labeled "Things my dad taught me." There was a metal bowl with chalk sitting in it for customers to reply about what their dad taught them. Really cute. Mine was: Love of coffee. Be sure to check out the bathroom, cute as well.

Is this place small? Yes. As it should be. I enjoy The Flour House for higher-end, locally made baked goods. Our last visit featured: jalapeno-mozzarella bagels with house-made veggie cream cheese, whole-wheat and chocolate chip bagels, Walnut and Heath bar coffee cake. All the baked goods are made on site by a local mother-daughter team. The extensive coffee selections are top notch. (I always get the dark roast. So rich...) The decor is quirky and features tons of whimsy. As Princeton is a small town, the hipsters sip espresso while children play on chalkboards and no one minds. Stay as long as you want. Carry out a half dozen. It's all good. And I mean, it's ALL good!
