We stayed at the Moorea Fare Miti for 3 nights before boarding a cruise around the Tahitian islands (Princess). If you are wondering whether or not to make the trek to Moorea (instead of staying near Papeete) DO IT!!! This was the most relaxing place we have ever been to, a real slice of paradise! It is not the Hilton or Pearl resort, but it is also not upwards of $700 per night! It is a small, family operated resort with local flair. The owners, Celine & Laurent were so friendly and helpful and were able to order Pizza or other food which was then delivered directly to our door. In addition, Celine comes around to your villa in the afternoon every day taking orders for fresh bread for the next morning...fresh french bread, butter and jam with a view of paradise every morning, what more could you ask for?!?!

The beach was awesome and a rarity (most places don't have such a nice long beach, you usually have to head to a motu for that), the snorkelling was GREAT and there is an island right off the beach that was walkable through the water, very fun to explore! There were tons of fish and different types of coral in the water just off the beach and around the island to explore. I am not a strong swimmer and my husband was able to teach me how to snorkel in this area, so it is perfect for kids!

The room was great, clean and simple with a cute thatched roof. It had a mini-fridge and a small, simple kitchen with a sink and stove, a bathroom with standing shower (no bathtub), a bedroom (ours was a 1 bedroom), a small living room with couches (that converted into 2 single beds for kids), and a covered deck complete with patio furniture, perfect for eating dinner and watching the sunset over the south pacific. The rooms don't have Air Conditioning or TV...never a problem for us because the windows open and you can get a nice sea breeze blowing through the room. Not having a TV was a blessing...why in the world would you come all the way to Moorea to watch TV? Isolation is the key to relaxation! :)

There were lots of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel along the coast, but our favourite place to eat was a little food cart (aka roulotte) called "Poulet Roti" (aka roasted chicken). It was run by a french expat and her son and was affordable and great. We ate there twice, once we bought a full roasted chicken with a salad (so yummy) and the second time a beautiful homemade quiche and a thai stir fry (also great). Highly recommended, we walked there from the resort.

All in all, when we return to Tahiti (because we will!) we will be staying at the Moorea Fare Miti.

Fare Miti is truly a gem.
I read through the previous posts and decided this was the best spot for our honeymoon stay on Moorea! We booked our 3 island trip with a local tourism company that did not include Fare Miti, but we insisted on staying there. We stayed 4 nights, 5 days. We were able to see the other venues we had the option of staying at...none compared.
Celine was an amazing hostess and helped us with everything from renting a moto, making dinner reservations, and sharing tips on island highlights including grocery store location and shops to visit. We ordered the most delicious breakfast breads and picked them up from Celine each morning. We were on a budget and cooked supper in the kitchenette 2 of the nights. Nice supply of kitchen gadgets. We ate on our bungalo porch and enjoyed the view of the white sand beach and waves crashing in the lagoon. The beds were very comfortable, nice hot showers.
There were chickens on the neighboring property. I really enjoyed feeding the hen and chicks our bread crumbs from breakfast.
The beach is well maintained. There is a tire swing and lots of beach chairs..kayaks/snorkles and other fun stuff can be rented. The water was calm and clear. We saw colorful fish and coral.
We met Barb and Randy. Their post was why we chose Fare Miti! They are wonderful people and gave us lots of advice on what to see before we left. AND they offered us two tiare flowers... nothing smells so good!
We love Moorea and had the trip of a lifetime. It was an excellent honeymoon. We have found ourselves daydreaming of the sights/sounds/smells/tastes. We can't wait to go back.
You will love it.

I really liked this place. Sometimes when we rent a villa or bungalow on the beach, we feel like our small children are shattering the peace and quiet that some people who frequent these places are looking for. At this place, there were a lot of families with small children, so if you do not like that, you may not want to stay here, but if like us, you have small children, it was great. It was nice to be able to let our kids run around and chase the chickens swing and hollar from the rope swing hanging from the tree on the beach, and splash and play in the ocean without us feeling like were were bothering anybody. It was a refreshing change from some of the other places that we stayed, which were equally beautiful as here, but were filled with stuffy old couples who had the look on their faces like "OMG they allow kids here"!

10 days very close to paradise! We had a spacious and cozy decorated bungalow with fantastic seaview in a lush garden. The french owners keeping the beach clean and leave free. All the beachchairs are in place and the bungalows are clean and in excellent condition.
What a life! Because of the bread-service from Celine we had every morning fresh french baguettes and the possibility to buy fresh eggs at the recepiton. Even a take away menue directly delivered to the bungalow is possible.
The restaurant is a short walk away and gives you a good and tasty choice of delicious french polynesian food. Just oposite from this restaurant the "Coco d'lle" has Babette her little "Roulotte" where she is cooking quiche and other very good home made food. to eat in or take away. Even if the Fare Miti has no Restaurant there is no such thing like beeing afraid not to get something to eat.

We had a little car to be able to get around and see other places and beaches. You can as well hire bikes directly at the Fare Miti and for all other informations Celine and her husband are glad to help you out with informations or arrangements.

Dont forget to take enough of insekt repellent spray with you because on Moorea the moskitos are 24 hours aktive...
Besides this it was a real southsea vacation on a moderate budget with the best beach, bungalows and location possible! A dream we like to make come true again one day.

We stayed for 3 nights in April 2011 and paid extra to stay in the one beach front bure. There is a large tree that obscures about 50% of the view. The beach is very narrow and as this tree provides the only nearby shade, lots of people come to sit directly in front of this bungalow.
This is okay if you don't mind the loud music, cigarette smoke and children climbing up the tree and staring directly into the bure.
We paid 15000 french pacific francs per night. The bure was clean, but ants were easily attracted inside so we needed to keep all food, including dereal in the fridge.
Other people hard parked their car outside our accommodation which meant that we could not park our hire car in our allotted space. We were just told to park elsewhere which was not very convenient.
Celine had arrange our pickup shuttle which cost 700 francs each. The bus trip took about one hour from the ferry to arrive at Fare Miti.
The small shopping centre is about 15 minutes walk.
Celine was helpful in arranging our departure shuttle.
I am also preparing a review for Otaha Lodge (beach front accomm)on Tahiti.
