Visited Pontiac, IL as part of a car club road trip along Route 66. One of main stops in Pontiac was the Pontiac-Oakland Auto Museum. What an amazing facility! Due to space constraints, they can only have a portion of the car collection on display at one time (I think there were 15 cars on the floor), but that's a great reason to make return visits. The collectibles, manuals & promo materials on display were really fun to look at, the vignettes they had set up for some of the cars (such as a camping scene for the Parisienne) were creative, and the staff was very welcoming. There is no charge for admittance, but they do accept donations. There are other Route 66 museums in town that were just as interesting to experience. The mayor was even on hand to welcome us and share some stories. Everyone was very hospitable, and I look forward to going back again.
