This place has been a favorite of mine and many people I know. Powhaten is just off the Interstate 70 Exit 36 in Illinois only 40 minutes away from the Mississippi River at Missouri border from St. Louis. It features a wide variety of food and you cannot beat the amount of food you get on your plate, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you are hungry afterwards, then you must have a hole in your stomach. The prices are under $10 for dining and breakfast is usually under $8. The service is friendly, the place is very clean and if long-haul drivers like it, you know it is good! 24 hours a day, anything on the menu and Gretchen Wilson's fav place to eat when she is in town? Yep, it's good. Beer and wine round off the dining experience. I think it is the best place in the Pocahontas area period. And if you are lucky, you get the buy one get one free coupon in the local Shopper's Review paper for dinner (just on Tuesdays) and you really have a great value.
I am not related to anyone in the restaurant but just have had several years of making recommendations to visitors over the years. They all come back to me with great reviews. Many of the people don't have access to Internet or even know about rating restaurants on line so I think I am speaking for about 100 people I know and have spoken for. See ya' at the Powhaten!
