We chose to stay at Homestead for a girlfriend's reunion. Everything about our stay from reservations to check out was wonderful. The home is beautifully restored and decorated. Mary Kay goes above and beyond in making sure your stay will be enjoyable. The cheese and beverage in the evening was a very nice touch. It gave us a chance to relax and enjoy the home before dinner out. Mary Kay had suggestions for restaurants and took care of our reservations. The rooms are good size and are laid out well for having a group together. The bedding was extremely comfortable. The home is kept immaculate. The breakfast served was delicious and plentiful. We would have enjoyed the lovely yard and garden if the weather had been better. So we'll have to come back. Thank you also for your help with my shopping needs it all worked out well.

We stayed at the Homestead this past weekend and cannot say enough good things about it. Mark Kay, the innkeeper, was the perfect hostess. She was courteous, helpful and personable the whole time. More than that, she was the perfect accomplice to help me surprise my wife for her birthday.
The house is beautiful. It was built in the late 19c and still has the original striped wood floors. The interior has all been re-done with beautiful, hand-painted murals and treatments. The whole house is air conditioned with high velocity vents which are super efficient.
We made good use of the sitting rooms for gabbing with the other guests. The library is the perfect place to sit and relax for a while and it is also the room with the television. I really appreciated that there was only one TV in the place. It wasn't on at all so everything was pleasant, calm and serene.

Room Tip: If you're like me and you prefer showers over baths make sure to mention that to Mary Kay when y...

I had the absolute pleasure of hosting a women's retreat at the Homestead. It is the perfect place for women to gather. We had such a a wonderful time, I don't know where to start. The house itself is charming and comfortable. There is plenty of room to be off to yourself, and ample space for the group to gather together. The labyrinth and hedge maze are wonderful for contemplation and fun, and the fire pit is great for gathering, singing, roasting marshmallows and interesting conversation. I look forward to having many more retreats at the Homestead. Mary Kay is an absolute joy to work with and an incredible hostess!

I just had the pleasure of enjoying a weekend at The Homestead for a women's retreat. This is a beautiful, historic bed and breakfast. The decor is beautiful and inviting. Mary Kay makes everyone feel welcome and at home. The rooms are wonderful - each one unique in it's own way with their own bath. The beds are very comfy and the linens were like butter.
The grounds are very nice and make a stroll outside very enjoyable. The labyrinth and hedge maze are added treats.
I highly recommend this B&B for a nice relaxing getaway!

I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely bed and breakfast last week while in the area for a meeting. I would highly recommend it for business or pleasure. Mary Kay is a most gracious host and made us feel right at home with her thoughtful amenities and homemade lemon lavender cookies. I would have loved to have lingered longer and spent even more time in conversation with Mary Kay and learned more about the home's fascinating history.

Be sure to make time to enjoy the setting if you are on a business trip. This would be the perfect place for a girls getaway weekend, small wedding or retreat. The house is beautifully appointed and my room was warm and inviting and the bed was very comfortable. Even if you tend to stay in traditional hotels, you will enjoy this change of pace and the pleasure of this relaxing environment.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have their own bath and shower but I requested one that did and was very pleased with...

If you want a short trip and get away from all the Chicago crazyness for a weekend, this is the place to be! Mary Kay is the best innkeeper that myself or fiancee have ever encountered. She upgraded us to a suite, for no extra cost, for our anniversary. Her hospitality went above and beyond all expectations! The estate itself is almost very well maintained and great place to unwind. Will definately be coming back!

Mary Kay is an incredible host! She even picked up my daughter and I late in the night when our train came in. Breakfast was much more than I expected and she even catered to my daughters wants on the second morning! The rooms are wonderful! I am planning at least two more trips to Homestead in the next year! One with my husband and one with the family! Thank you for going above and beyond! It was a memorable 16th birthday for my daughter!
