How could anyone be negative about this place? It is beautiful and very family friendly. We can usually pull at least a few catfish out of Plainfield, even on the hottest of summer days. Trout fishin in the spring and fall is really good there. I can't wait to get back out there.

Terrible place, no fish, doesn't worth to come. They claim to stock fish, doesn't seem to be true.

i went to plainfield fishing resort on october 21st of 2007. I am a 15 year old and went with my dad to catch some big fish. The wind was blowing ssw to w about 20mph. The fishing at catfish corner sucked, but by the bait shop/ ticket shop was abundant in bluegill and you could see swarms of trout jump. when i was there the best places were at duck corner if the winds are blowing ssw to w. At this spot fish off the peninsula with a little bay and you can catch bluegill all day. Try fishing with chuncks of nightcrawlers and wax worms. At trout heaven try fishing off the bridge of David's island with wax worms and nighcrwlers. There are 3 little bays you can fish. When i was there that was where all the fishermen were at. Check on the map by the lower right hand side to where the road ends and fish off those bays.

This is a lake that is teeming with fish. I have fished this lake regularly since 1972. It receives a considerable amount of fishing pressure, and can be difficult at times for novice anglers, especially during the summer months. Crappies are usually abundant and cooperative off the rocks by the snack bar, and along the bridge. Minnows or jigs seem to work best. Catfish, bass, and in the spring and fall, trout use this area as a highway to get from one side of the lake to the other. During the summer "catfishermen" can usually do well fishing deep among the weedbeds using shrimp or chicken livers.
Bass fishing off the islands can be explosive. Today I caught and released three 3-pounders taken on a spinnerbait in between two islands just off the main part of the lake.
The lake is clean, the management friendly and receptive, and the surrounding area easy on the eye.
