The hotel is nice and new, and my wife commented that it still had the "new smell." The facilities were, obviously, nice since it was new, and the food at breakfast was good, as well as the nice cookies they have out in the evening for people checking in.

There were a number of small problems that, when added up together, make the stay just OK and not great. The heater and air conditioning unit, which is pretty standard in Hampton Inns, was a problem (it is either on or off and cannot be controlled via a thermostat, so eventually it either gets freezing cold or boiling hot). There were no booster seats or high chairs in the dining area, which was a fail as far as families are concerned. The mini fridge didn't have a freezer compartment. Finally we found a cigarette butt in our room.

The hotel was fine, but we would probably not recommend staying there, especially since it was a little pricey for such an out-of-the-way town.

This hotel was really nice. My wife, toddler, infant, and I stayed in a king "suite" for 2 nights. The room was in good condition and everything was clean. The breakfast was very good. They are currently building an indoor pool onsite, but it is not open yet. The hotel was less than 15 minutes from Starved Rock. I would definitely consider staying here if I ever return to this area of the country.

I've stayed at my share of Hampton Inn's and this is one of their "top of the lines". My ground floor suite had a king bed with an interesting work station with the the LCD screen TV right above my desk, and at the opposite side was a couch with an ottoman. Price was a little higher than what I would usually pay, but it's a new facility.

Negatives- front office staff were not kind, and didn't acknowledge my name nor Hilton Honors status. They also forgot about my VIP Gold member ammenities. They also failed to mention that the pool/whirpool is under construction, and not operable!
