I visited again, after not having been there for about 6 years. They have expanded and made awesome improvements. Will go back soon!

“Many improvements in recent years”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2012

The Peoria Zoo has undergone some extensive changes recently, namely their "Africa" Exhibit, which reminds us of Disney's Animal Kingdom. The zoo is easy to get around and there is a wide variety of animals. There is also a petting zoo where kids can get up close to farm animals. The Peoria Zoo is very clean and well-maintained. There are adequate bathrooms and it is a nice way to spend a couple hours with the kids! I would suggest getting a pass.

“Expansion in progress”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2012

Their is a nice new African animal exhibit that I'm sure competes on scale with larger zoos. The older sections offer more shade. Plan to spend an hour or maybe two.

“A lot of walking for a small zoo”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2012

This is an older zoo though efforts are made to keep it attractive & safe. Always seems like a lot of walking between exhibits & kids get bored or want to start running from one to the next. On a 10 scale, give it about a 6. We spend more time in the park just outside of the zoo than we do in the zoo itself. Its not a bad zoo, just not at the top of my list of local attractions to return to.
