lots of easy trails and some challenging trails. Nice place to just get away for a bit right in the city.

We absolutely love this hidden treasure along the Illinois river. My children the inside exhibits and the walking trails. We have hiked all the trails in area and love the variety in the different wildlife you can see. A great family adventure for all ages.

We even saw a dozen or so deer prancing through the hills, by a trail actually called Deer Run! Trails are well maintained, and the visitor center has a lot of good information and fun exhibits for kids, including a taxidermied eagle and live tarantula. Parking is free, they have bathrooms and snacks. But the best part is the park, of course.

On a warm fall day, dry and sunny as it was, it is a wonderful park to enjoy.

It's kept in a very natural way, with all the wide trails going up and down the dense woods. Parking is easy, the Nature Center opens only at 1 pm on Sundays (till 5 pm): just as well, good time to visit it after lunch and then walk in the whispering forest.

The trails are well-marked, there were many families there with kids, and everybody seemed to be having a good time. Nice park!

We stopped in last weekend and the park was beautiful with flyers of things to do in the community posted and well maintained trails.
