“Fantastic Hotel”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

We were relocated to this property after an unpleasant stay at a different area hotel. The difference was night and day and as soon as we walked in, I wished we had begun our stay at the Marriott. We were warmly greeted by the courteous and friendly staff. The hotel is beautiful and even smells nice. I always tend to reserve final judgement until seeing the room because many other hotels keep the 'common' areas nice, but neglect the rooms. Not the case here. The rooms were also gorgeous and met my unusually high standard of cleanliness. Our room even had a lovely distant view of the river and the beds were very comfortable. Overall, our stay here was a breath of fresh air, especially after the many negative experiences we had at the previous location. My one and only complaint were the noisy neighbors who decided to barge into their room at midnight, slamming doors and talking loudly. You get discourteous people in any hotel though, so I don't blame the Marriott for that. People please remember, you are not the only ones there! You may have sleeping neighbors!

Room Tip: Ask for the southeast corner rooms for the best views of the river. Since breakfast is not free, co...

Spending a week at the hotel allowed us to really experience the hotel, its facilities and staff. I cannot say enough about our stay. We were first greeted by the great staff at the valet service, Rudy, Omar and the team were exceptional and really went the extra mile. They made a fabulous first impression of the hotel and it just continued from there. Congratulations!

Our check-in was fast and we were installed in a snap. We toured the hotel and even though it is a complete renovation, care was taken to preserve the old with the new.

The restaurant's were great and again, the staff made all the difference. The food was great and the atmosphere complimented the experience. My only comment would be a more balanced wine list - for mid-priced wines.

We are looking forward to our return trip later this year.

Hotel recently re-opened after shutting down for a complete head-to-toe renovation. This was a very old and elegant hotel in downtown Peoria that had decayed over the years. The renovations are fresh and contemporary, while paying some homage to the hotel's history (such as the staircase to the old lobby with its grand chandelier and the many old photos on the walls of Peoria's history). Parking (including valet) is complimentary, check-in was quick and easy, and the staff was "midwest friendly."

Rooms are not huge as the structure is still the old hotel, but they are comfortable and nicely furnished and decorated in a contemporary style (and fairly priced). We had a King Suite, which had a second living space that was good sized, split between a TV sitting area with sofa and chair, and a dining area with a table and four chairs. Our only suggestion is that while the suite has two entrances (one into the bedroom and one into the living area), the entrance with the room number on it is the bedroom entrance, making it the "default" entrance when first arriving. For an improved initial "impact" on the arriving guest, I would recommend the hotel switch to the living room entrance as the default entrance, which is how most suites are typically entered (living space first).

Finally, we were able to dine at their restaurant, "Table 19" (named for the oft-requested Table 19 of the former restaurant, "Carnegie's", where many a marriage proposal or other special occasion took place). Although we miss the traditional elegance of the old Carnegie's with its ornate decor and curtained booths, (I took my now wife to Carnegie's for her birthday back when we were dating some 24+ years ago) as Table 19 has adopted the open, contemporary style of many newer hotels, the food and service were both quite good. A "farm-to-table" restaurant, Table 19's menu features fresh, organic ingredients from area producers.

Overall, a very nice weekend stay.

Good evening,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review regarding your stay at the Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette. I am so glad that you enjoyed your weekend with us.

You make an excellent point regarding the location of the room number sign for the suite that you and your wife stayed in. I have spoken with our Engineering department regarding the proper placement of the room number signs and they will correct this.

The entire hotel team and I hope that you will visit us again in the very near future.

Please enjoy your day.

We stayed at this hotel this past weekend, and all I can say is WOW!
Gorgeous hotel with the most incredibly courteous & efficient staff. The rooms were sparkling clean and spacious with the most luxurious beds & linens. The food was fantastic, the bar was lively & fun, we seriously couldn't find a thing wrong. We cannot wait to go back, only this time for a week not a weekend!

As a professional traveler I quickly looked past the hype and glitz of this remodeled and historic facility.

We parked in the hotel garage, but due to construction we had to walk around the block in the elements to gain access to the hotel (the signage was elusive and uninformative). The front desk staff attempts to be friendly but it's mostly plastic with canned sound byte responses to our concerns (parking debacle and pay for internet).

Marriott spent significant energy on renovation here, which I applaud. However, the hotel has a stuffy aura and does not give a hometown persona which one would expect from a midwest community. I don't feel "at home" here like I do at other properties in Peoria.

Dining provides slightly upscale options which are grossly overpriced accompanied by a sterile ambiance.

Marriott needs to reevaluate their presentation of this hotel.

Room Tip: There are better options of greater value.

Good day,

Although I am so very sorry that your experience with us at the Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette was not up to your expectations nor the expectations of myself and the entire hotel team, I do appreciate that you have taken the time to share your comments with us.

We are in the process of constructing the Courtyard by Marriot Peoria. When the Courtyard is completed next summer, the two hotels, our parking deck and the Peoria Civic Center will be connected by a climate controlled skywalk which will make parking and moving through all four buildings convenient for our guests.

I have shared your comments with the hotel team. We will use your comments to help us to improve our levels of service everyday.

Thank you very much for the feeback.

This newly renovated hotel is just beautiful! The lobby and common areas are stunning and the rooms are beautiful! The beds are very comfortable and the linens and comforters are luxurious... The fitness center was quite spacious and very nice. The hotel is less than a block away rom the Civic Center, so if you are going to see a concert it is within walking distnce. And Valet parking is now complimentary which is great. The staff was exceptionally friendly.. The only downsides were no refrigerators in the rooms, although there is space for one, and no free WI-FI..

Stayed 2 nights in early October; this hotel is beautiful and well appointed. The guest rooms are perfect, with one exception....wish there was a fridge in the space provided for it. Large TV with HD service, well-lit bathroom, but the bed was THE BEST! Soft mattress with REAL down comforter AND pillows. Yes, there is a charge for parking ($9.00 for the day is really not outrageous) but on the weekend, it was very easy to park on the street during the day and the valet fee is for the entire day. Staff was outstanding too. We are returning in 2 weeks and I have already booked the room at Pere Marquette. Seeing as our son attends Bradley University and plays on the baseball team (games at Dozer Park, which is only blocks away), we will be spending many weekends at this property in the next few years!
