The $13 admission fee did not cover all movies/exhibits. The museum isn't very big so we felt the admission should have covered the entire museum.

The Chihuly exhibit was fascinating and the museum shop very nice - also enjoyed the River
exhibit and thought the children's portion was great. Easy parking in the pay lot. Wanted to take advantage of the Big Screen offerings but times were not easy to accommodate.

My husband and I recently visited the Riverfront Museum. The main reason for this visit was to see the special exhibit Mind Blowing Glass by Chihuly and Friends. We got to the museum shortly after it opened; the special exhibit was exquisite and definately worth seeing. The permanent exhibits at the museum left alot to be desired. My husband and I walked through the rest of the museum quite quickly due to lack of interest. Although we were not impressed with the museum as a whole we were hoping to salvage the day with a visit to the planetarium; the show Cosmic Journey didn't start until 3pm at this point it was only 11:25am. We decided to watch the movie The Grand Canyon Experience at the Giant Screen Theater (my husband and I have been to the grand canyon a number of times this was strictly a time filler). We bought popcorn and soda and took a seat in the theater. We waited 10 extra minutes past the shows start time at which point the audience was told the theater was having technical difficulties and there would be about a 10 minute wait. After another 10 minute wait we were told there would be no show and we were refunded our money plus given vouchers to see a movie at a later date. At this point we decided to cut our losses and leave. The best thing I can say about the Riverfront Museum is the staff were very friendly and helpful and the building was well maintained. We drove 125 miles to visit the Riverfront Museum and the only thing we truly enjoyed was the special exhibit. DO NOT drive out of the way to see this museum; if you want to see good museums go to Chicago.

A collection of amazing glass works by "Chihuly & Friends" is on display until April 13th, 2014. A must see! Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra and Vittorio Costantini; those artists took the glass blowing art to new summits.

Lots of interactivity including a pen to calculate the speed of your pitch, count your baskets, check the accuracy of your basketball dribble, test your jumping ability, test the speed and accuracy of your reflexes, compose a song, participate in a trivia quiz and much much more. If you live in Central Illinois, it would be worth buying a family membership for like $90.
