“Comfortable and welcoming”

We stayed at the hotel as a base for a family wedding. The venue was lovely and spacious and accommodating. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. I enjoyed walking in the woodlands and my husband, a keen gardener, was very impressed by the well developed gardens. 3 weddings took place during our stay but staff continued to offer our party outstanding hospitality and could not have been more friendly and helpful. We felt relaxed, enjoyed the delicious breakfasts and the well appointed and attractive rooms. The staff have worked very hard to provide a happy and relaxing space for their guests.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit a review on Trip Advisor following your recent stay at Barnett Hill whilst attending a family wedding locally. I am delighted that you had such an enjoyable stay with us and that you had the opportunity to take advantage of our beautiful gardens and unspoiled woodland walks.
It was particularly pleasing and reassuring to note that whilst we were very busy during the time of your stay with three weddings of our own taking place the team were able to provide you and your friends with the level of hospitality and personalised service we aim to offer everyone who stays with us.
Your very kind comments regarding how hard the team worked to provide a happy and relaxing space for you during your stay were very much appreciated and gratefully received.
Hopefully we will have the opportunity of looking after you again in the future when perhaps you might be invited to attend the occasional significant anniversary celebration or maybe even a christening which we could of course host if required!!

Stayed here during a business visit to Guildford. An amazing place, amidst of lush green countryside with absolutely no noise.. I could actually hear my own breath while taking morning walks in the garden. Lovely staff to help you with everything you need. Well, the standard room wasnt big enough, but double rooms are spacious. I would have rated it excellent of 5 stars, it had been well connected to road by walk.

Room Tip: Go for double room. You will definitely not like the standard room, although there is difference of...

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit a review on Trip Advisor following your recent stay at Barnett Hill. Your comment regarding the peace and tranquility of our setting has to be one of the best responses we have received to date.
I was pleased to note that overall you had a very enjoyable stay with us despite the size of our standard rooms being a little small for your liking however I hope that the hospitality and service you received more than made up for this.
In terms of our location I'm afraid the compromise for peace and quiet is that we are not easily reached by walking from the nearest main road network and unfortunately public transport services in this area of Surrey are rather limited. However I am assuming that this would not deter you from staying with us again when next on business in Guildford and we hopefully look forward to being of service to you once again in the not too distant future.

We needed a one night stay near to friends. This hotel is just beautiful. It has lovely gardens and great staff. We had a very nice meal in the restaurant. The room had all the things you'd expect but I can't say it was luxurious - more adequate than posh but perfectly comfortable all the same. Flat screen tv, tea and coffee, iron and trouser press. There was a wedding on whilst we were there but our room in the courtyard was peaceful. Bed was really comfy. The staff at the hotel are very helpful - we left a jacket behind and they couldn't have been more helpful. We didn't use the sauna or gym. I would recommend.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit a review on Trip Advisor following your recent stay at Barnett Hill whilst visiting friends locally. I was delighted to note that you had an enjoyable stay with us and your comments regarding the grounds & gardens, food quality and the hospitality you received are very much appreciated.
I have noted your comment regarding the 'adequate' standard of your bedroom in our Courtyard and would agree that, whilst these rooms are comfortable and have all the necessary amenities one might expect , some rooms would benefit from further investment in terms of modernisation which is something we are currently considering having already completed a number of bedroom refurbishments elsewhere throughout the property .
Thank you for recommending us to others and I sincerely hope that you will have another opportunity in the future to visit you friends and stay with us once again when hopefully we may be able to allocate you one of our upgraded bedrooms.

I needed a last minute overnight in Guildford and the Barnett Hill sounded good. Very impressive drive from the road sweeping up through well maintained lawns and gardens. Ample parking close to all rooms. The reception could not have been more helpful giving all details of the hotel layout, opening and closing times of the gym and bars and restaurants. I was given single room 37 in the courtyard buildings. Lovely quiet setting and an attractive building. The room itself was fairly small but was well appointed with freeview TV , Ipod docking station, tea and coffee facilities and free wifi. Also room boasted a bath with shower and complementary toiletries. Decor a touch jaded but still clean and tidy.

The hotel also had a bar area and steps leading down to a games room with table football, pool, table tennis and darts. Watch out for the low roof.

I took breakfast the following morning and was very happy with the choice of fruits , cereals and full english buffet. There was also the added bonus and having the option to take breakfast ouside as it was such a sunny morning. This offered fantastic views of the Surrey countryside and was a real treat.

Check was smooth and simply and I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

My only regret was not having enough time to explore the acres of well manicured grounds !

Thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to submit a review on Trip Advisor following your recent stay at Barnett Hill and for your very positive comments in respect of all aspects of your stay.

I am very pleased that we lived up to expectations having provided a last minute solution for your overnight stay near Guildford. I fully accept your comments regarding the decor in room 37 which, along with some of our other rooms is in need of updating and is part of a future planned refurbishment programme. However as you have noted the room had all the necessary modern ammenities and was clean and tidy if not a little on the small side as one of 8 single rooms we have on site.

I am delighted that you had the opportunity to take breakfast 'al fresco' which is certainly one of the benefits of staying at a property like Barnett Hill when the weather is fine and hopefully you will have time on a future occasion to stay with us again when you may have the opportunity to enjoy much more of our 26 acres of manicured gardens, grounds and woodland.

The hotel is secluded and in a lovely setting.

The staff are exceptionally friendly and the hotel is very welcoming. The room was nicely presented, and very comfortable.

Food is available in both the bar and the restaurant, I opted for the latter and was very pleased. You must try the Eaton Mess!!!

I would certainly stay here again.

Thank you also for your ringing endorsement of our 'Eton Mess' however, I cannot guarantee that this will always be available since all our desserts are freshly prepared on a daily basis by our pastry chef Ellen and all depends what she feels like making but all her desserts are delicious!!

We look forward to hopefully being of service to you again in the future should you have cause to visit the area again.

We like to escape for a dinner B&B on a Saturday night every few months, and we found Barnett Hill on one of the usual websites.

We booked at short notice and got a fantastic deal on one of their new rooms in the Gardeners Cottage.
The hotel is tucked away, but the satnav found it without any problems.
The long drive and grounds are lovely.
The Gardeners Cottage is a short walk from the main house but the room was fantastic, with a huge bed and ensuite with bath, shower and 2 sinks.
All of this looked brand new and unused.
We had a 3 course meal which was very, very nice, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the wine prices were very fair. It was finished off with coffee and chocs.
I must add that there was a big wedding going on in the hotel, but the service was still good.
Breakfast is a buffet, and seating was a bit of a problem with guests having to share large tables, but it was by no means a real spoiler.
We then had a walk around the very well kept grounds, and the not so well kept woodland walk, which we enjoyed. Then a quick game of croquet before we left.
One of the best dinner B&Bs we've had, we will definitely go back.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit a review on Trip Advisor following your recent stay at Barnett Hill in one of the new rooms in the Gardener's Cottage.

I am delighted that you found the new room 'fantastic' as the four rooms have only recently been completed and it was very reassuring to note your comments regarding the bed size and bathroom quality which clearly met and hopefully exceeded your expectations.

Thank you also for choosing to dine with us on the evening of your stay which I am pleased proved to be a very enjoyable experience with the Barnett Hill team looking after you well with friendly and accommodating service whilst ensuring that the wedding taking place at the same time did not affect you in any way.

I am sorry if you found breakfast service to be a little busy and crowded and this is something we are currently reviewing in the hope of being able to provide a more comfortable experience in the near future especially at weekends when we have a large number of guests to look after. I have also mentioned your comments regarding the Woodland Walk to our Estate Manager who works very hard to keep Barnett Hill's grounds and gardens looking immaculate and she assures me that when the team get time they will disappear off into the woods for a few days to see what they can do!

We attended a very important birthday party here on a Sunday a few weeks ago. The setting is lovely, but there it stops. It was the most simple of events, a family and friends barbecue - what could be easier? We sat on the delightful terrace, overlooking beautiful grounds - in the background were three very young chefs, trying to work out how to get the barbecue alight! Having done so, they proceeded to cook, not sure how much of the food on offer, then transported it into an ante room where the barbecue and buffet were set up.. By the time we went in to eat, the bbq food was totally dried out and not at all appetising. Salads from the salad bar appeared as if they were left over from the previous day. Very small bowls, lacking in imaginatin, and some empty before even half the guests had eaten. Find someone to get some more? Very difficult, all the staff seemed to disappear after the initial drinks were given out. White wine - scratch heads, and when it did arrive it was warm and then left out in the sunshine, not in an ice bucket! Red and rose were put on to the tables, but removed so quickly before we had even had a glass out of them. All in all, apart from one exception, staff were very inexperienced and seriously absent. There didnt seem to be anything else going on in the hotel apart from us. Maybe because its a conference centre that is not normally open at the weekends? It was very disappointing, particularly as it was such a special day..
Left totally underwhelmed and feeling deserted. But the desserts were nice but appeared to be 'bought in' - not sure. No cream available, had to ask, and waited 10 minutes to get any.. Would not return under any circumstances, in spite of lovely surrounding.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit a review on Trip Advisor following your recent attendance as guests at a family and friends birthday BBQ. I was of course very concerned to note your comments regarding the quality of food and service provided since it is never our intention to have guests leave Barnett Hill feeling anything other than completely satisfied and having spoken with your hosts subsequently, we were unaware of having failed to meet entirely with everyone's expectations.

Please accept my sincere apologies if you found the BBQ food provided unappetising when you came to eat however, I can reassure you that everything we produce is cooked freshly to order including our salads and desserts which are always freshly prepared daily.

I am also very sorry that you found the levels of service and hospitality to be somewhat lacking which is certainly not reflective of our usually high standard of customer care and attention. I have discussed your concerns personally with the team members that were on duty that day and they too offer you their sincere apologies for failing to look after you as well as you had expected.

Please be assured that we do take all forms of constructive feedback very seriously indeed and that as a hotel/conference centre we are open continuously with a very strong weekend market for weddings and individual leisure stays therefore, the levels of service we provide are expected to be the same throughout no matter what the occasion.

I am of course very sorry that you left feeling unhappy and unwilling to return as we would very much welcome the opportunity to be of service to you again when you would have my personal assurance that we would do our utmost to ensure that you would be well looked after.
