Beautiful Location in the Peak District, just 10 mins from Buxton. The House was great with en-suite bathrooms with all the rooms and spacious communal spaces. The Kitchen is well equipped with plenty of cutlery and dishes, so its great for group meals. The only downsides were some of the bedrooms were a little tight with having double beds and bunk beds in them, and the wifi signal wasn't great especially when you have up to 25 people trying to access it. Great location with Chatsworth, Bakewell and Buxton just nearby, and for anyone wanting adventure Go Ape was just down the road. I would definitely recommend this place for groups of friends or family.
Stayed here for the weekend with 27 friends for our joint stag/hen party. Fantastic house set in the beautiful Peak District. Six minutes from the local pub and shop (open 7 days a week) and 4 miles from Buxton. Management have it set up excellently with everything you could need for a large group weekend away. Excellent website for indoor and outdoor ideas. Wouldn't change anything!
We rented this house for a family get together of 13 adults, 6 teenagers and 9 young children and it was perfect. Their was plenty of space for the children (who really loved the 'castle garden' outside, the huge dining room meant we could all eat together, the kitchen was well equipped and a great space to produce meals in. There were ample sofas to relax and the pool table was a huge hit. The rooms are clean, comfy and well appointed. The location is great too and we had lots of lovely walks plus visits to Chatsworth House and the Blue John Mines.
Would highly recommend.
Our self catering party of 20 stayed in April 2015. What we liked was 10 double or twin rooms all under 1 roof, large baronial style dining room with log burner. Ample sofas and couches for lounging. Large kitchen fully fitted out with modern appliances and lots of utensils. Good heating and lighting. Good off road parking. And only 10 minutes into picturesque Buxton.
We rented this house for a family get together, 17 adults and 8 children. it was perfect with lots of space for the children. The kitchen was fully equipped and had everything you could possibly need. The location was great, close to Buxton and perfect for walks. We were there in February and had lots of snow which was great for the children and adults alike. There is an outside space, perfect for BBQ's in better weather although we did manage a BBQ one evening. I would highly recommend this house for any family gathering or celebration.
What a great place this was to celebrate with the family. There are no neighbours to upset if the celebrations get a bit raucous, and the Lodge is HUGE. Each bedroom has an attached bathroom and the water pressure to the showers is impressive in every room. There were 25 in our party, including children, and there was still masses of room. There is a small pub within walking distance (about 1/4 of a mile), if you need to get away for a short while and the drinks are cheap. The kitchen is stocked with more crockery, cutlery, pots and pans than you will ever need, and there are 2 dishwashers (of the electrical kind)!
We used a local Catering company called The Dinner Party Company, the Chefs name was David Wakefield, on the Sunday of our stay for a celebratory meal. He was fantastic, and it is very worthwhile considering this option. The owner, Pete, was extremely helpful throughout our short but memorable stay. VERY MUCH RECOMMENDED.
A large group of us stayed here to celebrate 3 of the group turning 30 (including myself). The house was absolutely perfect for what we were after - lovely clean bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, comfortable (and huge!) communal living / dining area.
The house and it's location is gorgeous, looking out over miles of the snow covered Peak District. Although you're only a short drive to Buxton, it feels nice and remote. The shop 10 mins walk away served lovely basic food and was well stocked with bits and bobs you'd need to stock up on. The Knights Table pub (next to the shop) was also great - lovely staff, nice food and tons of amazing old memorabilia!
Before we left on the last day we were already planning when we would come again - the house is perfect for a weekend / party get together for a large group.
