I had my first meal at Wally's about 40 years ago when I was in college and dating my future wife. Wally's was a "must have" every time we I was in the Park Ridge area. I remember once my father-in-law suggested that Thanksgiving would be a whole lot less work and more fun if we just bought entrees at Wally's (none-the-less, we had turkey). Now 40 years later I live 300 miles away, but whenever I have to travel to Chicago I try to make a trip to Park Ridge for the best gyros in the world. This past weekend my wife and I celebrated her birthday with our 3 sons, their wives and our nine grandchildren in the Chicagoland area and, yes, we took the whole crowd to Wally's! Wally's is much more than the fabulous gyros where the pita bread is stuffed with the gyros meat, tomatos and onions. The Italian beef is awesome, the Greek potatoes are wonderful....heck, I've never had anything bad there. Because I get to go there so infrequently, I almost always go with the gyros--it is my personal favorite. The only rub is that there aren't free refills on drinks, but that's a small price to pay for a great food experience.
