We went over the 4th of July weekend and although weather was nice we definately broke a sweat going up and down the staircase. We went to go see the Black Hawk statue which was very cool! It's huge and a cool place to take pictures for people like us that were visiting from out of state. We went with the intention to see Black Hawk and get a good workout while on vacation since there is a staircase from the statue to the water. We drove up to the statue and took the stairs down, 201 stairs so it was a feat but not necessarily a work out per say so once we got down we walked along the path next to the water and unfortunately very quickly had to turn around because we were walking amongst tons of mosquito clouds so it made this walk/hike very unenjoyable. We went back up the stairs and called it a day. Great visit but perhaps our work out intentions were misaligned, the staircase is really not that big of a challenge if you normally exercise. We would have hit it twice for more of a workout BUT the stairs are really steep and were actually a bit too hard on my knees so FYI not something you can do quickly (run up/down) or if you have knee problems.
