“Another enjoyable stay”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

I returned to the Old Station as thoroughly enjoyed my stay 2 yrs ago. Feel like made friends with Debbie and family 2 yrs ago and was good to see them again. Tried the burger stack this time, lamb, beef and pork burgers. OMG I swear they are feeding the 5000 with the size of their meals. Hospitality was fantastic and welcoming as usual, even played crazy golf with the children. Looking forward to returning there again very soon, as it is very good base for Bath, Bristol, Wells and Glastonbury etc

Firstly, my wife and I would like to thank Debbie and her family for their hospitality and finding us space to eat and stay despite circumstances meaning we messed around with our reservation a bit..... thanks so much!! And thanks for your understanding....!
We stayed here on a Groupon deal - fantastic value and a really nice bottle of wine included.
The room we had was clean and worked brilliantly for us in terms of location and convenience.
The food.... wow.!
This was really excellent. Not expensive and massive portions too. Best of all it was really well cooked and presented. This was topped off by the great table service we experienced too (from Debbie's kids!).
Overall, a really great stay and nice experience that we'd like to have again soon.

I booked through a groupon deal for a night away with my fiance - £29 for room and a bottle of wine - given the option to have this on arrival or later with dinner - we opted for the latter and a very nice wine it was too. Check in at 5pm, very laid back & friendly atmosphere, told we could leave pretty much anytime the following day & just post the keys through the pub main door. Our room was in separate building to the main pub/inn, just a few metres away, room was fine, slept very well (could be down to the wine) had tv, ensuite with bath & overhead shower, dressing table/area & wardrobe, couple of chairs, tea/coffee biscuits & chocs on pillow! The pub is awesome, everywhere you look something is on a wall or hanging from a ceiling or on a shelf - old posters/road signs/instruments/typewriters/camera's - the list goes on! it was a sunny evening so we sat outside for a drink - lovely decked area with seating, lights overhead and other features like a large clock and water fountain, beyond that is a grassy area with bushes/flowers and picnic tables, a relaxing & peaceful environment with a few childrens toys strewn around to keep any kids entertained. we then headed into the railway carriage for our meal - so much choice on the menu and both our meals were delicious and priced at around £10 each so very reasonable. lovely jazz/rat pack style music playing and great service from the waitress. definitely a new experience dining in an old railway carriage, beautifully preserved and surprisingly spacious. we then headed back into the pub for a nightcap, which turned into about 2 hours looking at all the interesting things and collections - just every inch of space there is something to see! the landlord was very friendly, as were the locals, we enjoyed chatting to them & very welcoming & informative about the local area & things to do. apparently only around 15 mins to bath, cheddar gorge & caves are around a half hour drive. its about a 3 hour drive each way for us, but we would love to come back. very memorable stay and lived up to its reputation and more! :)

This pub/restaurant/hotel exceeded all our expectations. We booked a Groupon offer and it was a perfect stay in Somerset. The room was huge - a family room although there were just two of us, with everything we wanted. Clean, modern furniture, plenty of space, TV, kettle etc. The landlady was very welcoming, and we enjoyed our evening meal in the adjacent pub. The Old Station Inn was full of interesting memorabia, and the Pullman railway carraige restaurant was great fun. We had an excellent meal, and really felt for the staff who were dealing with very grumpy and rude customers on an adjacent table. One of these diners had accidently been served a (more expendive) fillet steak instead of a cheaper sirloin and wanted to complain to each waitress, despite the fact that the complaint was handled very well by all the staff. I just hope that those diners don't put anyone else off - it was unjustifiable to make such a fuss. No breakfast is served, but after a lie-in and hot drinks, it was fine to breakfast out. and there is no point in paying for something that many people don't want.

We would recommend and stay again if in the area.

We bought a night stay here through groupon and although we couldnt get in the first time around due to busy schedules my Mum and Dad in law had the pleasure of going and they loved it. I was thrilled to be givent he chance to go myself when they bought me a voucher for Christmas.
Debbie and her staff made us so welcome and it had a great atmosphere in the pub. Accomodation was lovely, clean tidy and somewhere to lay our heads after sampling the most AMAZING food in the railway carriage. Definately book a carriage when you book, you wont be disappointed!!
Looking forward to the next deal as we will be bringing the rest of the Farrer family!!
Thanks to all staff at the Old Station Inn....fantastic!!!
