there were still a few big wholesaler boats selling their goods. To know what they are selling, you'll see their product put up in a wooden pole. we were told if you want to see the market in full swing, come as early as 6am.

I follow full day tour to cai be floating market, 2hrs distance from District 1. When we reach there, market already close. If you really want experience it, suggest to take 2days1night tour. Coz the market is open from 5am to 8am only.

Even if u do not catch the market, which closes early, it s worth it. you see the floating village with traditional houses and people's everyday life. It is different from the essence of Ho chi minh but it is is the reality!! It is beatiful!

We went early in the morning but less than a dozen boats out selling fruit. It is interesting to see the area but as our guide informed us there are less and less boats every year as modern practice takes over.

This is a typical floating market but the activity on the Mekong river is dwindling. There are only a few dozen boats left to be seen and you might not see a lot of bustling trading on the water.
Nevertheless it's a must see if you happen to put a Mekong river cruise on your agenda to discover Vietnam.
