Review of Drury Lane Theatre

This theatre never disappoints in drawing top-notch talent. The theme of this play was more than a bit on the disturbing side, but still worth seeing because of Christine Sherrill, who nailed it as Norma Desmond. Why this woman's credits show almost all regional theatre work and only one national tour is beyond me. She has amazing singing and acting chops. The rest of the cast was very talented as well, but she stole the show. Bravo!

Theater:

We like the overall design of the theater. Its easy to get to and park. The sight lines and sound are terrific! The only complaint is that the seats are way too narrow and the cushioning has scene its better days. We noticed so many people crammed into their seats and jostling for shoulder room.

Production:
We have been to three productions here and they are very well done. The quality of acting and singing is fantastic as are the set designs. There is nothing low budget here.

Nothing to write home about here -- this place is VERY OLD but clean. The theatre is nice and the sound is good but the dinner was mediocre. I will go back but only if I have another Groupon.

The Drury Lane Theatre in Oak Brook is a local elegant theater showing some great plays, without having to always go to downtown Chicago. The prices are reasonable and occasionally they offer discount tickets through other venues. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are good. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There is plenty of paring and a lot of restaurants in the area, if you choose not to buy the dinner/theater option.
