“Very special; could not have been better!”
Reviewed May 7, 2014 via mobile

We rarely stay at bed and breakfasts because our schedule is so difficult. But we love staying in historic Oak Park when we come to Chicago. Being that there are limited hotel accommodations in Oak Park, we followed the amazing reviews to Bishops Hall. It sounded too good to be true. We can only say that there was no exaggeration. We stayed in the incredibly appointed Coral Room. More of a luxury suite, actually...sitting area with a fireplace, large bath with shower, steam and tub and a dressing room. Beautiful art and appointments. It was incredibly clean. The bed was very comfortable. Chuck is very attentive to your needs and is very accommodating with your breakfast needs. Breakfasts were wonderful, and the setting so beautiful and relaxing. From the moment you enter, you feel a sense of relaxation and care. Yes, we know, we didn't believe that when we read it in the reviews either...but there is something very special about this place and Chuck is a wonderful host.

Bishops Hall is a 1916 beautiful brick house in an elegant neighborhood. The rooms (only 3) are nicely decorated, each with a private bath. It is a 30 minute drive from Midway and O'Hare airports, and to downtown Chicago by train or metro. Hemingway's birthplace and Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio and many of his other design projects are within walking distance. The Innkeeper prepares a complete breakfast, is very helpful and knowledgeable of the area and Wright history.

I cannot say enough about Bishop's Hall, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent weekend stay there. Chuck and Sam were delightful hosts and the house is just extraordinary. Wonderful location as parks, restaurants, Frank Lloyd Wright museum and downtown Oak Park are within walking distance. Delicious breakfasts as well. We stayed in the Tartan Room and it was such a treat. The owners pay great attention to detail and there are lovely little touches throughout, such as chocolates, fresh flowers, umbrellas for guest use etc. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed at Bishop's Hall last week. We were visiting Oak Park to help with a family crisis, that involved some very stressful moments. I will start by saying that the place, the furnishings, the atmosphere and the amenities are perfection. I have never stayed anywhere that rivals this B and B for thoughtfulness and good taste. But that's not the best part... the best part is that we were welcomed and treated with immeasurable kindness from the moment we walked through the front door, until the time came (sadly) to leave. While the proprietors are NEVER intrusive, their obvious regard for the human beings they have under their roof can be experienced everywhere in the house. Oh, and breakfast. Handmade, inventive, using the freshest ingredients and presented beautifully. We started every day fortified with excellent food and classical music. The bottom line: after four very difficult days, we departed feeling GOOD! If you are considering a stay at Bishops Hall, don't hesitate. You will be very glad of your choice. I know I'll be back, anytime I'm staying in the Chicago area.

Room Tip: Book the Blue and Coral room if at all possible. I didn't want to leave. Did not travel with ki...

This is an exquisite location and mansion that hits all of the high notes. Historic, gorgeous, warm and inviting, spotless, and magazine worthy. I didn't want to leave!
The owners are fantastic...save a bit of time in your hurried day to sip some sherry by the fireplace and visit with Chuck.
Nothing like it in the OP area and believe me, the area needed this!

Bishops Hall is a lovely bed and breakfast located in Oak Park, IL. It is convenient to all attractions in the city of Chicago and to O'Hare airport. The beautiful, early 1900s house is impeccably decorated, and the breakfast service is just perfect. Chuck is the perfect host, interesting, well-traveled, and FUN. I so enjoyed the extra touches, such as fresh flowers in the room, chocolates, robes and slippers. Stay away from hotels, and give Bishops Hall a try--You won't regret it!

Room Tip: Why not splurge and go for the largest of the suites? It boasts a dressing room, marble rain shower...

Bishop's Hall is a beautifully-appointed Georgian mansion made even more fascinating by the narrative of its history by the friendly hosts/owners. The connoisseurship and culinary talents of the owners enhanced the total luxury experience. Welcoming and so anxious to make the visit superlative, the personalities of the innkeepers made the visit an extraordinary memory. We visited Chicago to see the Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the Oak Park neighborhood; Bishop's Hall was conveniently situated for a walking tour.

Room Tip: The Coral and Blue Room was a suite of rooms to include an inviting fire with cocktails and a cheese...
