I recently visited Petey's Bungalow for the first time. I think I would go back if in the nieghborhood. The food was okay, but then again I only paid 12 dollars for a complete pork chop dinner. The chops were nothing fantastic, but he price made up for it. They do bring a large assortment of complimentary relish trays, so think twice about ordering any appetizers. The place was also very loud the night I was there, and the tables are too close to each other. The bus boys do a great job of making sure everything goes smooth. Dont order the house wine though, it is horrible

It is definately a neighborhood restaurant- in an old converted bungalow. Steaks are great- if you are in the area- or visiting someone at Christ Hospital give it a try. One of the oldest restaurants in Oak Lawn.

The volume of food is high, but the quality of the food and the preparation certainly leave much to desire. The prices vary from 12 to 25 per person without drinks, and it is just a waste to come here. The rooms are overcrowded and cramp--two of our table of six had to get up each time the table next to ours was serviced. The bathrooms were small and dirty--where is Oak Lawn inspectors...they should bother to show up as I always figure if a restaurant can't keep a bathroom clean, how do they clean their kitchen?? I had the sauted calamari which was a small portion in bready type of concoction meaning it was pure garbage, and certainly not fresh as they had to take the breaded calamari and did a number on it to try to sautee it. Others in our party had fish, which was not fresh, steak of a poor quality and ribs which was just ok under any standard. Any other restaurant down the street including fast food would be better than Petey's--unless of course as I say in the title, you love volume and just want a fill up as they pile on the junk high and mighty....they might try getting a chef who knows how to prepare food properly instead of wasting money on cheap product at massive volume.
