We stop here sometimes just to go to their take-out room to get one of their famous sandwiches, but today we ate inside. We had a BOGO hot sandwich offer so we saved over $5 and had lunch for just over $11. Our waitress was very good, pleasant, and efficient. Even when this place is really busy, they seat people quickly and get the food out quickly. The sandwiches we had were outstanding, mainly because of the outstanding bread. BTW, they serve bread and butter before, even if you're having a sandwich. The plain white Italian bread is just very very good. If you get a sandwich at the take-out, don't consider anything but their famous Gondorga (spelling may be wrong). It's about ten times better than any other sandwich.

Good place to feed a group. Also the gondola's make great take out and travel food. There are other better pizza options in town. The service is usually good and the bread is great.

If you have lived in Normal for any lenght of time, you have been to Avanti's, especially if you attended Illinois State. They are famous for their bread and their gondola's. (Avanti ' s bread, ham, salami, cheese and lettuce.) The bread is a sweet, soft bread.

They are located across from the University and recently opened a second location across town in Bloomington, across from the airport. Prepare for a wait on a Friday night or if there is an ISU game. If Doug Collins is in town, you may even find him there.

The menu is made up of pizza, pasta, salads and sandwiches. All but the pizza is served with their bread. No alcohol is served at either location.

If you want a hometown favorite, this is the place.

Prices are great.

If you want a nice "Italian" place to eat, either alone, with friends or family this is one of the best. The portions are large, the prices are low and the service is quick. The atmosphere is somewhat plain, but the prices and service make up for it.

You can get a wide variety of Italian food for a decent price. The food is decent and fills you up. It is very family friendly and I have never had poor service
