For Mother's Day my wife wanted a day home without plans. Naturally I decided to take her out for breakfast the day before (complying with her wishes and still celebrating the event). What I didn't know is that ISU's commencement ceremonies were also the day before Mother's Day. Wild Berries was packed with both grads and moms being lauded by family and well wishers. I have to applaud the staff for handling the crowds as well as they did. Our wait wasn't too long and service at our table was as attentive as I would expect even without the completely full restaurant. My coffee cup never got more than half empty and our order came at a completely reasonable time.
Our food was prepared well and served hot. My only complaint might be that the breakfast skillet I had was thermally inconsistent. The hash browns, bacon, sausage and ham were all hot but somehow the cheese was not melted and the eggs (sunny side up) were a bit undercooked. Had the taters and meats been waiting for an order? Possibly. If they had I don't believe it was long and it didn't significantly detract from the dish. The pancakes were perfect and my wifes Country Benedict was just as she expected.
A hustling staff that didn't appear panicked made this busy morning work.
