Tucked into the tiny town of Paganos, just outside Laguardia, is Hector Oribe. A calm and delightful space with warm tones and white tablecloths, simple but elegant. Service is outstanding yet unpretentious. The food was outstanding and a great bargain. I think the entire meal (lunch) was $100 for the two of us including a superb wine from Torre de Ona (in Paganos too and worth a visit). We had the three course menu which came with an amuse bouche. Each dish was well prepared, very fresh flavors, and just enough creativity to showcase the talent of the chef. There was nothing sloppy or standard about a single dish. Can't recommend it enough and it is a nice counterpoint to the heavy cuisine of the region - the asadors and pinxtos.

We were recommended to this restaurant by our wine guide in Haro as well as our B&B hostess in LaGuardia. We were not disappointed. The food was inventive, well prepared and served by professional staff. You could spend multiples more for a Michelin star, but not necessarily get a better meal. We had on the menu degustation:
Amuse-bouche. Creme of cauliflower in a shot glass
Foie with raspberries and marmalade
Chevre salad with pine nuts mixed greens and cooked apples.
Sweet breads in corniche shaped empanada
Bacalao with clam reduction and on a coulee of fruit
Duck with apple cherry and mango sauces.
Pineapple sorbet, bread pudding, cheesecake and cream pastry with chocolate sauce.
Accompanied by a Ysios 2004 Rioja crianza

Its out of the way and a bit challenging to find but don't miss this wonderful meal! My husband and I had a prix fix lunch because they weren't opened for dinner on Tuesdays and it was just increidble food. I'm not a big fish eater nor boudon noir but I was coaxed by the waitress to try both - she promised it would be like nothing I had ever tasted and she was correct and she was as happy as I was - it was just an overall wonderful dining experience. At the end of the meal the chef, Hector Oribe came out to ask if we enjoyed his food - the only sad thing is he wasn't coming back to the US with us. Although this is the wine country, the area is pretty removed so do yourself a favor and don't miss this restaurant when you travel to this region - you will regret it!

We visited Hector Oribe as party of a private guided tour. We had read reviews on the restaurant which were very good and it certainly did not disappoint. We were immediately seated and the wine, food and conversation was immediately flowing. There was a set menu for us, but we were offered a second menu to choose from as well. The food was excellent, portions were ample and service was great too. Definitely one of the better dining experiences thus far in Spain for us.

Can't fault this place in any way, the service was excellent and very helpful. The food was superb in taste, presentation and good value for money. Our wine selection was excellent and the white wine was one of my favourites. I can't recommend enough and will definitely find again and revisit! 10/10
