“Great French Barn Family Holiday. Perfect ***”
Reviewed February 14, 2017 for a stay in August 2016

We had an amazing time at Raverlat, the barn is beautiful, with pmore than enough room for two families. Everything you might need has been thought of and the welcome pack of bread, pate, cheese and wine was perfect.

The pool was lovely and warm, the children wanted to be in it all day every day! They did make the most of the trampoline and wide open space available as well though.

The area is very peaceful and relaxed, but not far to find lovely towns with markets and castles. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, we hope to return!

First words were - it's amazing. The barn is a wonderful building - spacious and very well equipped. Spent a lot of time in and around the Pool, which was great fun. It's a remote and quiet location, great night sky. If you want peace and quiet this is the place.

I stayed at Barn at Raverlat with my partner and some close friends. We had a wonderful time relaxing in this peaceful, tranquil and beautiful place. Such a lovely little hamlet. The barn is luxurious with a huge kitchen where we cooked delightful food from locally sourced ingredients.. The seafood from the market is so fresh and the local breads and cheeses a fine accompaniment . Just cycling down to the local village to by bread is a delight, take a carrier bag though because it's tough cycling with loose loaves and a bag of croissants in one arm.
The heated pool came in really handy as it was cool on a couple of days, the water was lovely and we just ignored the fact that it was relatively cool outside. We also made use of the massive log burning fire in the evening, a nice glass of Courvoisier watching the flames was magical, another word of warning, go easy on the logs, we sweltered on one lump and you can't turn it down like a gas fire.
Locally there is a market, I think it was on a Wednesday, this is a typical French affair with a great atmosphere and a chance to buy live snails to either release back into the wild or do what we did and cook them for an hour and a half in garlic and water then fry them in garlic butter. Splendid. Season well and add parsley..
Despite its remote location it is not far from things to do. The chateaux and local lakes with man made beaches are great you can hire kayaks or pony trek, ponies are not my thing but there are local stables that do that sort of stuff.
This is a fantastic place for a holiday, the lawn is big enough to play rugby on, the house big enough to escape someone having a sulk and luxurious enough to feel like you want to stay forever. A car is a must too but the bikes provided are pretty decent.
Young, old, active or sedate it's here.
I will definitely book again for next year.
Au revoir

“Love to return to this fantastic accommodation”

All the comforts of home and more! High standard facilities and roomy accommodation made it perfect for our needs.
A car is essential as the setting is rural. Shops and large towns are some distance.
We were very un-lucky with the weather but found the log fire a great comfort on our return from the wanders of the day

“Well appointed comfortable”
Reviewed October 28, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Quaint regional airport with excellent flight time from Liverpool. Good directions got us to the barn with no problems at all.
First impressions was "wow" what a fab place with so much space and such well equiped rooms. The kitchen is huge and would be great for parties. The lounge has a wonderful central fire place with multi-fuel fire. The main family bathroom would have a different postcode is so large and our bedroom had an on-suit with a good veranda. Outside the pool is well cared for and a reasonable size in approx. 2 acres of land.
The location is rural France but there are several local restaurants that offer reasonable priced eating. Nearby supermarket is well stocked but French speaking only. With pleanty of bedrooms I guess it would sleep 8 in comfort and more on "put-you-ups".

Liked best: comfort and luxury - standard of facilities
Liked least: solar heated pool...didn't realise implication if weather poor! Chose this propery for heated pool and unable to use it all week! Owners helpfully arranged for heat exchanger to be fitted, but also weather dependent. Disappointing.

“Sheer tranquility, 5 stars”
Reviewed June 7, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

we arrived, having followed excellent directions, to discover the property more than lived up to the expectations we had. It was large, bright, airy with beautiful furnishings and very well looked after. We took full advantage of the vast grounds, swimming pool and other facilities for the children. Of course with all the fantastic restaurants in the area we also dined and lunched out. Is this a house we would rent again - without any doubt.
