Returning from Germany and desperate to find a hotel to stay the night, TomTom guided us to this place and we arrived in the dark at 2000hrs. After enquiring for a room the person on reception said we are not really open tonight due to a private function but very kindly took pity on us and not only offered us a room but also said he would get the chef to make us a meal and provide drinks. The large bedroom was clean and comfortable with good facilities and free wifi. Next morning we were provided with a good breakfast. On leaving we were very surprised at how reasonable the bill was. If we are ever passing again would not hesitate to stay again.

Stayed: March 2014, traveled on business

this chateau de limont has a nice garden and an excellent restaurant. the location is a bit away from interesting places but using the offered bycicles you can explore the old rectangulair farms specific for this region

Dirty Rooms. Towels are never changed. Music from the Extreme expensive restaurant is louder in the rooms then in the restaurant. During check-in they immediately ask you for reserving a place in the restaurant. A menu costs around 39euro pp. Next day i went to Vaudree 08. VAUDREE OREYE. Chaussée Romaine, 61 4360 Oreye. Was cheap and better

Room Tip: not above restaurant and not next jacuzzi

We stayed a weekend in the Chateau Limont in the French part of Belgium and had a great time. Don't let the name 'chateau' fool you though - it's more an old manor than a historic castle, but this is the common name for manors in this area.

The reception was very friendly and they speak Dutch, French as well as English. Dogs were also welcome which we found very refreshing: Our little dog had lots of fun running around the big park that surrounds the castle. The rooms were clean but nothing special, although ours had a great view of the park plus a massive bathroom with a great shower. The food was exquisite - my partner had a steak which he thought was the best he ever had (and he loves steaks!), but everything else was delicious too. The food wasn't cheap but well worth the money. In the morning we had a buffet breakfast where the eggs were fresh from the chef's pan. The buffet wasn't too big but had everything that you needed.

The area around Donceel is mainly farmland as far as the eye can see, interrupted by little villages. Tongeren (just over the border in Flanders) is well worth a visit, a beautiful old town with parts of Roman walls remaining as well as lots of Medieval houses and churches. We spent the day walking around the old centre with a city tour from the Visitor's Centre where they were very welcoming and friendly. The afternoon was spent on a terrace with some famous Belgian beer and snacks. Every Sunday they have the biggest antique market in the Benelux here - a tip for antique lovers.

Luik (or Liege in French) is also a stone's throw from Chateau Limont, as well as other picturesque places. Guests can rent bikes from the Chateau which are very suitable for exploring the small villages around the Chateau - we were there in February however so the weather didn't really permit bike rides at the time.

All in all a place that I can recommend - and as always, the Belgians were extremely friendly and welcoming.

The hotel is in a very quiet location, but reasonably well signposted. We were very late arriving, having planned to eat in the restaurant we were too late, however they prepared a plate of cold meats, salad and bread quickly and it was nice food. The following morning we were leaving early and again the staff were accomadating in preparing our breakfast. The Croissants were freshly cooked.

The room was large and clean, but the interior was dated, which added to some of the charm.

Nice location, but the hotel apparantly does not invest a lot in maintenance. You will love it if you like eighties fashion interiors and noisy wedding parties: a perfect Walloon experience! The wall paper and windows in the rooms need some 'bricolage' and the garden is not very well maintained, but we perfectly understand that the concierge is almost retired..

Room Tip: Get a room far from the wedding parties, which are frequent in weekends
