“We love the White House Inn in Nauvoo!”

Hi. We stayed at the Inn for 2 weeks. It was super cute and clean and well-maintained on a daily basis. The AC was adequate during the hottest part of the summer. The staff was friendly and professional. We loved having access to the shared kitchen. It worked out so well. The pancake mix and fresh cookies were a great bonus. Thanks for such a great experience. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms were quiet because Nauvoo is a quiet town. I loved the many windows in our room (lace curtain...

We spent 2 weeks in Nauvoo in July. We researched this hotel on the web before booking it and knew what is was and was not. Our criteria were a quiet, clean, affordable place with kitchen facilities at our disposal. We found exactly what we were looking for and expecting. While there was no on-site manager the management was right across the street as we expected. They were courtious and helped with all of our inquiries. We will stay here again should we return to Nauvoo.

Room Tip: Rooms were well kept and clean. Yes it is a house converted to a hotel. There was plenty of aircondi...

I'm not sure what happened with the experience that the reviewer from Northern CA had. But we had a great experience! Okay, so there was no host to greet us, but we didn't expect that and it was fine. The key was left for us in the mailbox as was explained to us, along with a note with our room location. We understood that the pancake mix was provided for us to make our own breakfast but that wasn't a big deal to us. We were told everything to expect and things exceeded our expectations.

We loved staying in an older building with decor from over a century ago. The ceiling was a 12 foot ceiling which made the room a bit grand. The bakery even provided sourghum cookies every afternoon. They had a person clean every couple of days or so with new towels available. The location was better than we could have expected - just a few blocks north of the Temple and the whole Nauvoo experience. The beds were comfortable and the Inn was clean. The A/C works great and kept the place cool. Since we shared it with others, it got a bit cold for my wife but they had blankets ;-)...

They had a guest book for anyone who stayed there to sign and we saw nothing but positive remarks from the last dozen or so people who stayed. The kitchen is a shared kitchen and we made some great friends with the other 2 families that were staying there. We are contemplating going back to Nauvoo in the next couple of years and will hopefully be able to stay at the White House Inn again!!

Was it luxurious - not really, but it was clean, comfortable, a great location, and I would recommend to anyone.

We were anticipating our stay at the White House Inn and looking forward to a B&B experience of hospitality and charm, we were completely disappointed. We were told to collect our room key from the bakery across the street if we arrived in town before 4:00 pm, which we did. We opened the front door to the Inn and were surprised no one was there...no host, no guests, no lights on....nothing but terse notes about how we could make our own pancakes in the morning but be sure to clean up the kitchen afterward. Our first impression was not positive; although the house has potential to be gracious, the remodel done sometime in the 70's or 80's was poorly done. The house was stale, the room had no dresser or desk, the old tv was balanced on what seemed to be an old tv tray stand, the drop ceiling was dirty acoustic tiles. Most remarkably of all, a bathroom addition had been made in the room with the toilet and shower enclosed but the sink standing in the open. Upon our return later that evening to an unlocked home, as we turned on the lights, we saw cockroaches! That really was the last straw for me; we called the owner and told her we wouldn't be able to stay there because of the roaches. She said we needed to give her a week's notice of cancellation because she'd been "holding the room" but did not charge us..... We stayed at the Motel Nauvoo which was spotless, lit and very comfortable.
