It goes without question, that the restaurant offers an unmatched dining experience. “Not as good this time”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

This restaurant is unique and I enjoy visiting, but the food and service were just off this time. I brought two of our daughters and the three of us were squeezed into a too-tiny table that forced me to sit with my back about 1' from the entrance foyer. Frankly, a table shouldn't even have been put in that place. The main dining room is much larger and nicer than getting crammed into a smaller room.

Our waiter was a nice guy, but he didn't return for about 20 minutes after we got our first course. So there was a long delay in between courses which kind of defeats the purpose of this type of meal. I don't remember the proper names for our various dishes but the steak on a skewer was very close to being undercooked, and it was cold. We had a shrimp dish that was very much un-flavorful. Our potato dish was good, as was a goat cheese dish.

Dessert is always good here.

Overall, I wasn't too pleased with our visit and the $120 price is a little steep for the food and service. My next visit here will be the determining factor as to whether or not I continue to patronize this place.

“Superb through the years. Tasty tapas, always.”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

We have dined at this culinary institution in the far western Chicago suburbs several times over the years and "Meson" - we have have always referred to the restaurant that way - has never disappointed us. We have mostly eaten there for lunch or Sunday brunch. The latter is very popular and reservations are practically essential. In retrospect our visits have been during the warmer months of the year because of the desire to dine outdoors. The main building, The Mansion, was once a physician's residence, built 165 years ago. There are several dining rooms scattered over several levels, and some are quite elegant. For our family, though, the best place to experience Meson is out on the patio. The estate is also a pleasure to walk around and the landscaping provides a great backdrop for group photos. Even more important, especially for those with restless young ones, the grounds provide open space for children to run around safely.

There is a large bar on the ground floor at the back, at the end of the main hallway. There is a second, smaller bar upstairs.

Meson is perfect for all sorts of occasions, from couples dining, though family gatherings, as well as birthday celebrations and, now that they have built a pavilion, weddings / wedding anniversaries. We have enjoyed all of these at Meson. The food has been consistently very good and the service friendly and helpful.

We always look forward eating at Meson Sabika.

“Great Restaurant for Foodie Families - Excellent Tapas and Service”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

We make the pilgrimage to the western suburbs just to eat at Meson Sabika. My family of 8 has memorized the menu and order the first 8 tapas off the top of our head. Patatas al Alioli, Gambas al Ajillo, Sopa de Alubias Negras, Datiles Envueltos en Tocino, Duck Confit, Queso de Cabra, Medallones de Solomio, Lamb shops, etc - those are the palate blowing masterful creations of this kitchen. This is the standard by which other tapas restaurants are measured. We take complete advantage of the tapas atmosphere and turn it into a culinary adventure for our kids and ourselves. You must try the red sangria - but careful - you might end up being driven out of there. It's delicious.

The circuses are loud in a good way. The kids always fall enthralled to the flamenco music, signing and dancing. And the service is always superb.

Make reservations on peak hours, specially if you want to be seated outside.

There is plenty of parking - but be early during the weekends as it tends to be a hot spot in Naperville.

We love this restaurant and we the fact that has kept its award winning recipes intact and consistent for decades. Salud!

“Don't Miss This Place!”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Shortly after my family moved to Illinois, my wife and I found this gem. Outside beneath the trees is beautiful BUT the food . . . amazing!! We have been back a few times and every single time, no matter which tapas we have ordered, we have loved every bite! Amazing atmosphere, service, and food. Don't miss this place!

“Large selection of delicious food and great service”
Reviewed July 9, 2013 via mobile

My first time here and I was very impressed with the taste of the food and the quality of service. We had a slight snafu with one of our dishes and they were on top of it and management came out and offered us, not only a price adjustment of the dish removed, but a replacement of our choice. We were stuffed and declined more food, much to our surprise, he sent out a beautiful and delicious tray of desserts.
