“Good way to spend an evening”

We have taken many riverboat dinner cruises, but I would say this was one of the better ones. Didn't have to deal with the picture taking episode so many want you to do, so you will purchase an overpriced picture. The food was served, not buffett style, and was actually decent tasting. There was a really good band aboard, who played music from all eras, and plenty of people were dancing. Offered some really novel specialty drinks, at a reasonable price. Loved the top deck for the trip back, under the stars. Plan to make this a yearly event.

Just back from a great trip to Moline, Illlinois and a ride on the Celebration Belle Paddle wheel boat. We were served sticky buns as soon as we arrived on the boat and listened to the big band complete with soloists and dancing for those seniors who were still light on their feet. There are two upper levels to sight see along the river and an interesting time going through the locks and even a visit with the Captain. Then a wonderful buffet and more big band sound and another yummy treat before exiting the boat to go to Jumer's smoke free casino -- very new and luxurious rooms -- you have to see the walk in shower. The slots were generous and buffet delicious and the High Roller bus from Milwaukee was right on time. It was another fun trip from start to finish. The fallorama trip for October is still coming up!

We took the narrated tour (no lunch) and had a good time looking at the gorgeous houses and some of the historical sites. Nothing fancy, but a relaxing time. We started out sitting inside and then went outside because the narration is difficult to hear inside. Also the view is better outside -- and you don't hear the parents yelling at their kids.

We spent an enjoyable couple of hours on the Celebration Belle for a narrated lunch tour. Everything went smoothly; embarkation, buffet lunch, narrated sightseeing, and debarkation. There is plenty of parking right on the Moline riverfront. Lunch was a satisfying selection of turkey, pasta, salads, vegetables and dessert. The highlight for me was sitting outside on the top deck while the captain pointed out the local sights and told a bit of the history about Arsenal Island, the lock and dam, swing bridge, and the relation between the first bridge over the Mississippi and the railroads, steamships, and the 16th president of the United States.

I am a local, but anyone traveling on I-80 with a few hours to spare could take a cruise. The boat docks just upstream from I-74. Exit through the gift shop.
