Havre-sur-Mer Inn

My wife gasped at the beauty of our room--the gold and maroon curtains pulled back from the sliding door through which the Atlantic Ocean glinted its welcome--and fell in love with the place.

Thérèse Bergeron, a lover of all languages, conversed in French, English and Spanish with me. A linguist, a host, and the boss who hired Chef Guy (a culinary artist whose divine breakfasts included foods I wouldn't normally eat and whose non-food art is on display in La Grave historic district), provided the perfect haven for this Canadian Spy.

The best host, the best French lessons, the best breakfasts, the best of the best, la crème de la crème. Calme et à la sérénité, tout à fait.

We stayed here for only two nights, and are already planning to go back. Therese and the team could not make a visitor feel more welcome, the accomodation is superbly and stylishly decorated. We loved the privacy of studio 1 with it's amazing views and enjoyed the quiet walk along easily accessible beach in the morning. Havre-sur-Mer looks a little remote on the map but we found it was well worth the extra few kilometers to come back to this charming place.

The surprise gourmet breakfasts deserve a paragraph on their own and as the one who predominately cooks at home I was delighted to have such wonderful food provided without having to make a single decision!

If you have difficultly sleeping past the dawn light - take some eye masks, the shades and curtains cut out very little light which caused us to wake early.

A wonderful place - the term B&B really doesn't do it justice.

Our room was perfect! Completely clean and with a wonderful view of the ocean. The gourmet breakfasts were fantastic! The best meals we had each day. Easy access to the beach, and located close to some other Island attractions. Basically, this inn is located in the perfect "jumping off point" for your daily adventures. Therese was a great host and her English is good (better than she thinks it is). We would stay here again, however, getting to the Islands is expensive and so are most things to see and do once there. Not sure if we'll be back soon... But will ALWAYS stay at the Havre-sur-Mer if/when we do return.

A room with a view of the sea (leave the sliding door open...), gourmet breakfasts included (eggs benedict, smoked salmon omelett and more), easy access, and many more. Check out the 2 story suite!
When in the islands, no questions: stay here (we did for 8 nights) and it will be a memorable part of your trip. It's not a 5 starr, its a five heart. You will remember...
Therese the owner is charming.
We will be back soon. Need we say more.

We came to Illes de La Madelaine, and the inn, Havre Sur Mer, to celebrate a very happy thirty years of marriage. Our honeymoon, on the Algarve in Portugal, was so perfect in every way, I did not think it was possible to replicate. I was wrong. These islands are enchanting but this inn is heaven on earth. From the moment you enter this world, you are greeted so warmly and made to feel so comfortable, you feel like you are coming home.
The location is indescribable. You find yourself taking the same pictures over and over as the beauty from every corner of the inn, from every window, from the parking lot, the
breakfast room, stepping out the front or the back, your senses are filled, morning, noon and night. And when you leave the inn to spend the day on some of the most stunning beaches in the world, you return to a beauty that is equal in measure. I could not wait to wake up in the morning to see it all, again. and I didn't want to sleep at night! The chef, Eric, prepares breakfasts that are not only delicious but plated works of art. There is exquisite music softly playing and a convivial atmosphere that serves to begin each day of your holiday on just the right note. The housekeeper is a charming woman, Marguerite, who comes and straightens your room, replacing towels, freshening up every corner, while you are at
breakfast. The main house is filled with art work created by the chef, a very talented young man. we chose to stay in one of the adjacent "studios" a few yards from the main house and I strongly recommend it. There is a small but highly adequate kitchen and the space, itself, is stunning...inside and out. The main reason to stay at Havre Sur Mer, however, amidst this embarrassment of beauty and riches, is the proprietor, Therese. She is a woman of incomparable grace and beauty. Beyond the expected requirement of giving her residents guidance and information about the area, she deeply cares about your comfort and experience and she knows what will make your trip just that more memorable. I will miss Illes de Madeline and Havre Sur Mer and will dream about them, often. But I will miss Therese most of all.

On your left a lighthouse. In front your own beach and the ocean. On your right a small harbor and a tall cliff. Therese is the kindest host and serves gourmet breakfasts. Great French restaurants with the best seafood. We are bicyclists and these islands are a bikers paradise. Our best vacation, our highest recommendation for a place to stay in a great place on this earth.

Absolutley loved this hotel! We stayed in Studio #2, which is the 2 storey studio, and it was awesome! Extremely clean and a great layout. They looked after all the little details that most places over look. Great view, spa, just an amazing location. Gourmet breakfasts included and they are gourmet. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a great relaxing vacation. Loved it and we went all over the islands and it is the BEST location! One tip for seafood lovers, you can not cook it in the rooms but that is a minor issue.

Room Tip: Studios are the best!
