Our first room was literally right next to the elevator. With a bus load of young kids roaming the halls we immeciately requested another room. Second was actually a suite - sweet! Clean, spacious, comfy & so quiet. Two large TV's and a stereo to plug mp3 player into. Pillows were lumpy but bed was great. Towels were dinky and two tiles were loose around the tub. But overall pleased with the room. We got up really late so we nearly missed breakfast but even on the tail end there was plenty to choose from. The "hostess" came around to tell us she was about to clean up giving us a chance at seconds if we wanted.

Loads of restaurants in the area for dinner too although road construction was making a mess of things. Good experience. We'd stay there again.

Fairfield is my preferred choice when traveling by car. This hotel lived up to my expectations except for the exercise room and the loud BANG when the elevator starts from the 1st floor!
Pool is nice, but breakfast area was a bit small... coffee was hidden around the corner, away from rest of food, like an after thought. We had to fight for a table on the weekend.
Like other hotels, the breakfast foods lack lo-cal and lo-carb choices for dieters & diabetics.
Other issue we had was we had to go to front desk have them re-program door key cards 3 times during our 2 night stay.
The king bedroom was a bit cramped, like a NYC hotel, but the comfort of the bed and the excellent condition of the furnishings in the room made up for the small size.

You know its not a good start when there's only one person working the desk and there's 3 people in front of you. I felt bad for the clerk since its appears he wasn't trained properly. Shame on management for not having 2 people working the desk on a Monday evening. Luckily he was friendly which helped.

It was nice idea having the evening reception. It wasn't an amenity they advertised on the website. However, the snacks they had out looked nasty. I give them an A for effort for providing mixed drinks but the spirits they so prominently displayed made average rail liquor look top shelf. Luckily you can't screw up canned beer (even though bottles probably cost the same and would have been a bit nicer).

Don't be fooled by the gym picture on the website. It opens late, closes early, and the equipment has seen better days. Half of the cardio machines were broken. The multi-purpose weight machine was crammed into a corner so there was no room to use it. Oh, and bring your own towel since they can't be bother to have them in the gym room.

Overall, this hotel has a lot of promise but management is slacking on the basic stuff. I'm probably being harder than I should be but I expect more from a Marriott property.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money and go for the suite. The standard rooms are too small. And what hotel still has double beds?

No complaints whatsoever about our one night stay here. We asked for a quiet room away from the elevator and vending machines, and that's exactly what we got. Very clean and comfortable, pleasant and friendly staff. Couldn't believe it after a 12 hour drive to have free drinks and snacks offered to the guests until 7:30 p.m. We will stay here each time we stay in Marion.

Room Tip: We ask for a top floor room, away from vending machines and elevators, non-freeway side. This hotel delivers.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how clean and attractive this property is. Checking in was a breeze and the front desk staff was amazing. Everyone associated with the hotel were friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the "happy hour" and next morning breakfast. Will definitely come back again!
