Went with a colleague looking for a gin brand called Few (distilled in Evanston), they didn't have the gin, only the whiskey but we what we did find was a new great little place for lunch. The turkey Reuben was exceptional and the handcut fries were tasty. Most sandwiches are around $7. Highly recommended as an alternative to the slew of fast food restaurants up and down riverside ave.

We went a couple months ago and again last month. The first time was absolutely wonderful and the second was not as good but still better than average.

Both times we ordered the same dinners. Normally, we don't do that but the steaks were so good the first time, we ordered them again. The first time, we had plenty of time so we ordered the smoked cheese sticks as an app. Really quite good for an app everybody has. We both ordered the strips - mine was the house strip and my husband ordered the au poivre. Both were done to perfection and were wonderful. If you like potatoes, get the gratin! We've tried a couple other options but these are the best by far. Really yummy. The meal also comes with a veggie and I think it was asparagus both times. Finally, as if we hadn't had enough to eat, we shared a salted caramel cheesecake slice. Wow! If it wasn't the best cheesecake topping I've ever had, it was darn close.

The second time we went, we were headed to a play afterwards so we had a tighter schedule. Again, we ordered the same steaks. Mine was done to my order but my husband likes his medium rare to rare and his was well overdone. We had no time to send it back but he said it was still tasty but he was disappointed nonetheless.

Just as our meal was better the first time, so was our service. Our waitress the first time seemed on top of her game and was prompt and answered all our questions. On the second occasion, it looked to us like this might have been the waitress's first day or two as a waitress. She was confused about our orders, spilled liquids and sauces on our table when serving and generally kept us on our toes. She tried hard but wasn't very adept.

We're certainly going back again, hopefully when we have more time. We're also committed to trying other dishes. This is a welcome addition to the Rockford restaurant scene.

While visiting friends and family in Northern Illinois, we dined at BISTRO108. When you hear "Bistro" do you think snobbish? Not is this case! The food is plated in a very pleasing manner, the tables set nicely and the wait staff in customary black and white. But all done with a very friendly flair. The food was delicious. I had a special of veal piccata while my companions had steak. Not one of the five of us had a complaint. I would recommend BISTRO108 to anyone looking for moderately priced delicious food in a delightful setting. Do not drive past---it is across the street from the Village Green Nursery.
