Rock Cut State Park is a glorious place snuggled around an expanding lake. The campsites are extremely close together, but clean and well kept. We stayed in 418 in the Oak sites. Shaded with electric. The people who work there are very gracious and helpful. Fishing was awful! Fishing from land/bank gets you caught in tons of seaweed, rocks and fallen trees.

We rented a boat on Saturday. Too few boats to rent other than canoes and kayaks. Hard to fish out of a kayak! Even with the boat and 4 hours of fishing, nothing was caught. Perhaps this lake has been over fished.

Hiking is plentiful through shaded trails. Many bikes - both motorized and non-motorized. Speed limit is 20 and the Conservation Police patrol to make sure it stays that way. Keeps everyone safe!

Go to the concession area south of the lake, follow the signs, they have nice bathroom facilities and paper maps to help you navigate. We hiked through the south west corner of the park. There is a loop trail but we ended up just taking a path west high on the ridge and coming back on a lightly used trail low mostly near the water. We heard a lot of birds and frogs and we saw a cute little Eastern Chipmunk on a log. We also found some of those crazy sounding frogs in a patch of mud next to the creek.

I have been to Rock Cut State Park over the past several years. We have watched the recent changes with the new concessionaire and we really like what we see. Canoes, kayaks, paddle boat, and row boats for rent. All these are at very reasonable rate of $10/hour. We spent about an hour on the lake and then went to cafe for lunch. I had one of the best Veggie sandwiches I have ever tasted. It has a full menu, hot dog, hamburgers, italian beef and brats. We shared a waffle cone and then hiked back to the campsite. The trail was well kept and we saw herons, hawks, and an osprey on the way back. Overall we had a great time and will definately be going back. It is worth the time and we came away with money in our pocket.
