I didn't stay at the hotel--so why write a review?--but my wife and daughters did. If there was a problem--beds too soft, thin towels, too loud, dirty bathroom, crappy TV, something they didn't like--I would've heard about it. (My wife knows I take my hotel stays/reviews "seriously.")
I did get a few details out of them: Nice (bright) lobby; large corner room; friendly staff; clean. Those things alone warrant at least 3 stars. People doing their jobs professionally, and providing a clean room is expected...but unfortunately it doesn't always work out like that, even in the nicest of hotels, so I think it should be recognized.
So how/why can I give a "very good" rating...when I wasn't even there? One of my daughters was under the weather so I had contacted the hotel in advance to verify the bedding arrangements in the room and ask about a refrigerator (for Rx). They were very prompt in their response, thoughtful, and provided a fridge in the room at no charge.
It's not the Four Seasons, so I don't expect a "luxurious" experience. But a clean, comfortable room and the extra attention to make sure my family had a good visit is always appreciated.More
