“A Day to Remember”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

We had a beautiful day. We were able to drive around and stop and look when we wanted to and also to talk some short walks on paths of our choice. They also had a special display of these amazing bamboo bugs that were huge and beautiful (ants, ladybug, spider, dragonfly etc.).

“Walking and Plant sale”

Beautiful, walked the trails on the East side, saw a scarlet tanager in the tree tops, easy to spot before the leaves come out.

Great place to walk along the trails, but you've got to be careful and watch out for mosquitos and/or wasps.

“Never a bad time to visit the arboretum”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

We go almost every month and have for years. The fields of daffodils in April make for impressive pictures, as do the changing leaves in the fall and the snow frozen to the trees in the winter. As you pass through the pay area you can go the left where the visitor's center is located with a restaurant open for lunch with a wide array of healthy choices and a gorgeous view of the lake. There are exhibits and a gift shop. inside there are decorated trees in the winter and outside there are dozens of original scarecrows to see in the fall. They have special events year round such as classes, nature walks, a narrated tram ride, huskies, theater, concerts, chocolate, wine tastings and fall artisan exhibits with gourds galore. Kids love the children's area with a maze, water to play and splash around in and lots of playground equipment and opportunities to learn about nature and animals. I always prefer to go right after the entrance and head to Lake Marmo and the butterfly garden along the way. It's relaxing and exhilerating to hike around the lake and the trails watching turtles, fish and birds. It's a perfect place for picnics. There are benches as well. In the winter it's a great area for snowshoeing. Rent them in the visitor center.
