“Restaurant Closed!!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

Due to a fire, this restaurant has closed. As I need to review in 100 characters or more affords me the opportunity to ramble on tirelessly. Just kidding. Nothing more to offer as this restaurant obtained quite a bit of fire damage and seems unlikely to reopen.

“Some hits, some misses but too many misses.....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

Old school but a bit disappointing..... The drinks were solid, the service friendly but we had to ask for too many things - may we have the chopped liver? can you bring sauce for the BBQ ribs? the bacon you said you'd bring for the salad???? As an established joint with a relatively stable menu, they should know what their customers want and deserve/need - like BBQ sauce for their relatively dry ribs!!!!

Their chopped liver and onions is good (but Carson's is better) - my wife and I split ribs and their chopped salad - this was after we were told they were out of brisket!!!!! So we couldn't get their interesting sounding Brisket Chopped Salad..... The ribs were meaty and dry - needed extra sauce which was good and spicy! The chopped salad was pathetic... bland, white and dark meat chicken bits, some lettuce, chopped egg and an overly anchovied house Ranch dressing..... disappointing but not nearly as bad as the London Broil ordered medium by our friends - what arrived was lightly cooked beef brown on one side and blood raw red on the other - quickly sent back, the owner apologized and then they were brought their 'medium' London Broil for the second time - and it was RAW still - we have no idea what they pretended to do to it in the kitchen but that was the end - they asked for a skirt steak dinner instead and it came out promptly fifteen minutes later - after my wife and I had nearly finished our rapidly cooling meals off......

On the positive side, it was quiet enough to converse, the atmosphere was well-done old school, the drinks were good, light enough to read the menu and they gave us a complimentary dessert for our troubles.... they should've 'comp-ed' the skirt steak instead.

I recall eating here many years ago - and nothing much has changed...... that's OK too......

“Great Food, Old Atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2012

I used to go to Myron & Phil's as a youngster with my parents. The place has not changed a bit in decor or food. They have valet parking which is helpful and we were seated immediately. They serve the most wonderful raisin pumpernickel bread and a chopped liver like my grandmother used to make. The food was wonderful, Lake Superior Whitefish is great. Steaks are great. The salad dressings are a bit heavy. For a fine meal in a nice atmosphere this is the place to go.

“Definitely Old-School”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2012

Time stands still at Myron & Phil, a Lincolnwood fixture for 40 years. The crowds that used to pack this place during the Reagan and Clinton eras seem to have migrated to trendier, more cutting-edge restaurants. But the comfortable white-tablecloth dining room continues to deliver classic supper club fare to a smaller but still-appreciative audience.

Yes, they still have complimentary valet parking. Yes, they still serve those complimentary pickled vegetables, together with a ball of luscious chopped liver and a basket stocked with bialys and raisin-pumpernickel bread. Sour cream-based salad dressings are so thick and indulgent that you can stand a fork up in them. The corn chowder on our most recent visit was velvety smooth and rich, with a slight peppery kick.

Of our four entrees, three were hits. Chicken Marsala, Chicken Piccata, and Chicken Vesuvio were generously portioned and cooked to perfection. The Vesuvio potatoes were neither crisp nor hot, though. Fatty BBQ Beef Ribs were a miss, their taste and texture more suggestive of boiling than broiling.

The servers are well-schooled in the supper club tradition; they're attentive, efficient, and adept at making even new customers feel like regulars.
