A contemporary setting and the food was great. We started with the teriyaki sampler, which had more rice than teriyaki samples. I also tried the quail egg shooter which had a bit of a spice to it. I did not know what to expect with that appetizer, but it was very good. The seaweed salad was good and not just the usual small amount that you get in many sushi restaurants. And that is a theme at Bistro Wasabi. When it comes to the sushi, you get more than enough. There were four of us, and we all enjoy sushi, so we tried several different types of sushi. Among them were the tempura veggie, the spider roll, the spicy tuna roll, the dragon roll and a crab rangoon. We could not eat everything, as it is not your typical two or three pieces of sushi. There were easily eight pieces of sushi in every order. Everyone really liked the crab rangoon, which was probably the star of the dinner. No one expected it to be a roll, but it was,and it was very tasty. All of the items were well presented. The service was excellent. With a large sake and a beer, the total price was reasonable for four adults. If you're in the Algonquin area, and you are a sushi lover, this is a great place to go.
