Tours are given of the inside of the barn every other Sunday in the summer. Many people park in the lot by the barn and start their walk or run around the road that circles the park. It's 3.2 miles and very peaceful and pretty!

We visited the Round Barn and went fishing at the lake, which seems to have a nice assortment of fish. We had pretty decent success; some Bass and Carp. The state park is really pretty with a good combination of restored prairie, pine woods and such. Really scenic park and worth the visit if you are into nature.

Located on Johnson's Sauk Trail State Recreation Area, Ryan's Round Barn is a wonderful bit of architecture. There are other round barns, but there is not another barn like this one. World famous brain surgeon, Dr. Ryan designed many one-of-a-kind labor saving devices to make this engineering masterpiece truly unique. The barn is open from 1-4 on the first and 3rd Saturday's from May through October, but do not hesitate to call Steve to arrange a special tour. He is happy to share his knowledge and to open the barn for guests. The park restaurant is just a short drive from the barn and offers home cooked meals and a view of the lake in a relaxed atmosphere. A wonderful outing for the entire family.

This barn is a must see. I can't get enough of how awesome looking it is from inside. It's really amazing to look up and see how it was built. I was chasing my little ones around, so I didn't get to listen to all of the tour, but the staff is extremely knowledgeable and they were answering tons of questions. I was just astounded by this barn. Just phenomenal.
