B. Harley Bradley House
Reviewed July 29, 2013

This home has been lovingly restored, with Conservancy guidelines met. The location is a pleasant residential corner on the Kankakee River, with ample parking. There are a number of original pieces of furniture in the home, but some rooms contain stridently misplaced office furniture and pieces from the home's days as a restaurant. In all it is well worth viewing. Be sure to call first; the tours are done by volunteers.

Wow what a beautiful FLW home! My mom and I were the only two on the tour! I am so glad that this home was restored and now open to the public.

Our guide was knowledgeable and clearly had a passion for FLW architecture and the house. He drives from Chicago once a month to give tours and spend time in the house.

I hope over time they they will be able to raise the money to add reproduction furniture and additional art glass.

It is worth the drive to this area to see this wonderful architectural history!

Having been to so many of his homes nationwide I can say that this early example of his architecture shows so much of the ideas that were developing in Wright's mind in the time period of its development. Try to check out the calender of events before making a visit and enjoy the river view.

Overlooking the Kankakee River, this 1900 house is in a well landscaped old neighborhood, easily accessible with unhurried tours. Good investments in refurb and low key improvements. Interesting blend of Wright's characteristic features with late Victorian floor plan. Nice roomy gift shop and local docents very "into" their subject in a non-snooty way. The most welcoming Wright home thus far. Stairs are for the physically fit.

Frank Lloyd Wright lovers must add this to their list! The house has been open to the public only a couple of years and is wonderfully restored, back to the original (unusual) colors. I've seen a number of FLW houses and believe that this one is unusual for its time (1900). The house itself is large and some of the first floor rooms are very large, too. Its setting is sublime, on the Kankakee River. The art glass has an unusual tulip design repeated throughout the house. We had a very fine tour by a knowledgeable guide who easily answered our questions. If you visit off-season, you may be the only ones on the tour, so go now! It's only about 1 1/2 hours from Chicago. There is a nice gift shop on-site as well.
