We've just returned from our first family holiday in the Lake District and were really impressed with the standard of the lodge. It was in the perfect location for exploring Windermere and was of a very high standard.
The lodge has been really well thought out, with everything we might have needed. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook great food. It was filled with creature comforts, and a few well thought about extras like games to play and even Netflix on the tv. The beds were comfy and the lodge seemed to maintain its temperature well. Make sure you have plenty of £1 coins for the electricity meter, although we were pleasantly surprised how little we had to top it up.
On a shared site it has the luxury of being very private. My girls (4 and 6) loved playing independently in the garden where they were very safe and enjoyed making a bug house out of the sticks they found. Beware of slippery rocks though as my youngest did take a tumble. They also loved the swimming pool and jacuzzi which was warm(ish) although it did get crowded at times as it's not huge.
Watch out for the front decking in the rain as it gets slippy. We learned on the first day however, and were able to use the back door for the rest of our time.
The key safe entry is handy as we were able to explore the area on the first day of our break without clock watching and then leave at a time that suited us.
The owner was also really attentive before our visit, contacting me to ask if we needed anything.
We will definitely be returning at some point in the future and will be recommending to friends.
We live in North Lakes but like to spend a few nights down South every now and again to explore. Although we knew this wasn’t a commercial holiday park we still were a little worried that it wasn’t going to be as private as the pictures suggested. We needn’t have worried. The lodge is on a huge corner plot, not looking at or overlooked by anyone else. It’s surrounded by mature trees and so peaceful. The location is fantastic for walking and our 2 dogs loved pottering round the garden while we sat on the deck. The lodge has everything you need, the shower is hot and the bed comfy. The local pub is ok but the Britannia at Elterwater is only 2 miles away and is fabulous. The Sourdough Pizza Co in Ambleside also deliver to Neum Crag. Couldn’t have been happier. Would highly recommend.
The accommodation is beautiful and very private. The rooms are of a good size and even in the cold month of December we found the heating was sufficient to keep us warm enough. It is well fitted out with everything that you need and lots of advice and information available inside too. All things seem to be catered for including a nice touch of a bottle of bubbly in the fridge on arrival.
While we didn't get to experience the swing at the bottom of the garden due to the weather the whole place was magical. We saw three deer on our first morning just before heading out for a walk. It's a great location to either set out walking from or to drive and walk. You are very close to Ambleside and shops for necessities and there are plenty of pubs and eateries.
I'd definitely recommend this for a great week/weekend away in the Lake District.

We spent Mon - Fri at Blelham Tarn. It's a lovely cabin furnished and decorated to blend into its surroundings. Pitched near the top of Neaum Crag. It's position is perfect for a peaceful retreat. It is comfortably furnished and cosy and fantastically equipped, we couldn't think of anything the cabin didn't have. The walk back up the hill from Skelwith Bridge isn't for the feint hearted. This particular lodge is not suitable for anybody with a disability with steps down from the service road to the lodge and such natural beautiful but uneven grounds. We didn't use the pool or jacuzzi as we ran out of time in the first few days and then it was closed after that but it looked clean and well maintained. The cabin was spotlessly clean and armed with strong air fresheners to remove the slight lingering doggy smell that emerged after the cabin had been shut up all day. A lovely authentic woodland break,
Had an absolutely lovely weekend here. Cabin has everything you need and is clean and cozy. We had a good walk around the park and think this cabin is perfectly situated for the pool room and 2 paths that lead to stunning walks.
We have children aged 2-9 with us and they all loved it, from the pool to running around within the fenced area surrounding the cabin. Whilst a bit slippy and steep in some parts, they all managed to navigate it without any worry of injury; this cabin also seems to have more space around it than a lot of the others. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back.
Excellent quality interior, fixtures and fittings. Authentic log cabin feel. Beautiful Setting. Sheer tranquility.
We stayed at Blelhem Tarn for a long weekend, it was wonderful. A perfect retreat for me, my partner, my parents and Basil the dog. The log cabin had everything we needed, was clean and we felt right at home straightaway!
We were lucky with the weather and were happy to spend the morning sitting outside soaking up the lovely surroundings and watching the deer and Red squirrels outside. In the afternoon we would visit nearby locations, Skelwith Bridge is in a perfect spot to visit Coniston, Grasmere, Windermere and Ambleside. Basil loved the local walks!. Would definitely book again, hopefully later in the year.
