Love's is a great place in Highland Park. You definitely get the feel of the town; it's a classic institution in the heart of downtown.
The quality of the food-- the froyo, at least-- is great. I love getting the peanut butter-Ghirardelli chocolate swirl, with sliced bananas, or the key lime with graham cracker. And it's reasonably priced-- about $4 for a small size (which is maybe 8 oz or so?)
The only thing is, it definitely attracts a big high-school crowd, which means it can get very loud with gossipy teenagers very fast. If there's seating outside, that's the place to be, to escape the din and delve into long conversation with old friends. Otherwise, your visit might be cut somewhat short, as mine was last night, when we couldn't stand the earsplitting chatter (and North Shore accents!) anymore.
