This a real gem in an unexpected place. One of my favorites is the burnt ends of the brisket. They have a great selection of sides. If you get the corn bread crumble topped with the baked beans, it's a full meal itself.

The selctions are quite varied from a sizable helping of meat sandwich to plates with sides. Not the best ribs I have had but definately above average. I usually take a slab home for dinner and they do warm up well. They have a variety of sauces which are really good.

Kind of a fun place to go to - the seating areas are quite casusal yet cool.

We have eaten at Urban Barbecue twice now and both times dinner has been delicious. Their brisket sandwich is piled high with lean, sliced brisket. Sides such as cole slaw, French fries, and golden corn bake are nice additions. The cranberry bread pudding was a disappointment. Also, their turkey was dry. You can get three sizes of sandwiches- slider size, regular, and large. They have a huge assortment of soft drinks including many root beers. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the place is always crowded.

Almost did not go because of Cubs Fan007. I would have missed out. Amazing BBQ. Had the full rack of ribs with the pancake and green bean side. Fall off the bone ribs with tasty sauce that had a hint of hot. The rest of the family ordered the burnt tips, pulled pork, and whole chicken. All were good with the burnt tips a little on the dry side. The employees were up beat and knowledgable about their products. Will come back when I visit again.

After reading and hearing all the great reviews we finally decided to try this place. Wow, it was really disappointing!! The meat was totally overlooked and so dry I couldn't even finish my brisket. The ribs were the same way, it was like the food was leftover from the previous day. The only positive was the corn bread side, it was really good. I would not return. It's also very expensive for a cafeteria style restaurant where you don't even get table service. We paid $40 for 2 people. But I guess it's Highland Park and they feel it necessary to rip people off.

I had lunch here and will be back again soon. The people were friendly and helpful from the guy who cut the meat to the cashier. The meat was great. I had the brisket burnt ends and they were crunchy and full of flavor. I also had the chicken which is the best I have had anywhere. This place beat KC and Texas que as far as I am concerned.
