Spent several days at the hotel scuba diving. The diving was great. If you are not a diver or love the beach then this is not the place for you. There is no pool. The value was good and the resort is very clean. Most of the food is served buffet style (which is not my favorite) but you can get food at the bar which is freshly made. Meals are served at set times so the resturant gets crowded very quickly. The sleeping room was a nice size and a big bathroom. The have a nice spa. The staff is helpful but not friendly which maybe a cultural matter. Sunsets are amazing and the ocean water is exceptional clean with great visibility.

Room tip: Unless you are over the ocean get a room on the second floor. You get a better breeze on the balcony plus you can keep the windows open and not have passersby looking into your room.

It's a beautiful island and the hotel is the only thing on it. The island is small, but there's plenty of beach space. We visited at the end of October, 2012. It took us about 45-50 minutes to get to the hotel from the airport in a speed boat transfer. We stayed in a standard room and it was pretty alright. For the price you pay, the facilities are ok. We didn't get All Inclusive though, which turned out to be a mistake because they don't even provide water! You'll end up paying $6 a bottle of water if you don't get All Inclusive - and much more for drink/snacks etc. The room smelled kind of musty a lot of the time.

The people are very nice, especially the water sports people and very helpful too. We snorkeled and that was great! There are reefs very close to the beach and you're literally swimming with the beautiful fish.

The food was pretty good, overall. They keep changing the menu so it doesn't get boring. It's not outstanding though. Breakfast was ok too, except the egg-chef was always burning the omelets. The staff are helpful. They service your room everyday but there's no room service, so if you need a bottle of water at night -- you walk to the bar to get it.

There's a little theater where some artists put on different shows each night and they are just great. We managed to catch one and were crying with laughter!!! There isn't a whole lot to do at night, but the bar has Karaoke nights and beach parties if you're into that sort of thing. The bar has a beautiful deck with a great sunset view.

Their spa is pretty good. We've been to better spas but theirs holds up pretty well too. We got the couples package (foot scrub, body polish, massage and facial) and got complimentary hour long massages as well - so we were there a lot and it was quite nice. The view from the spa is great and they have some good seating out on the deck.

The way Maldives is priced, I'd say Rannalhi is a pretty great deal and we had a really really good time there. Take a good book to read and lots of sunscreen!

Room tip: Get a water villa if the noise of the waves doesn't bother you so much. Otherwise, number 440 onwards for the standard rooms are good, since they're close to the beach and restaurant etc.

We have just returned from 2 weeks at Rannalhi on 26th October 2012, we stayed in a standard room no 222 which had the best view out of all the standard rooms. We have been to the Maldives 3 times before staying in Kuredu 2004, Dhonveli 2005, Meeru 2007 & most recently Rannalhi, the order listed is the order I would rank them in also, Rannalhi is good if your on a budget, however please be aware the island is mainly Italian, Russian and germans, there was about 12 english on the island during our stay which was quite a lot according to the staff. All the notice boards are in other languages the entertainment staff are all italian so they seem to ignore the english visitors. The main bar is the only bar use can obtain all inclusive drinks at. If you go to the Niki bar by the water bungalows you have to pay for everything. If you want water for the room just buy a 1.5l bottle from the main bar it's only $6 including tax. for people who've not been the maldives for a few years please note there is now a 10% service charge added to everything and a 6% tax. We had a few problems whilst we where there the toilet leaked I reported to reception and it was fixed 1 hour later when I returned to the room. Although the bathrooms in the standard rooms are all indoors we did have a problem with ants and this also was reported to reception on day 10 as they where even in the toilet they must have sprayed as we only seen 1 or 2 after this. The ants are really big here. now for the food, When we first got there the food was nice and lots of choice there was beef kebabs and fried breaded fish which tasted like KFC and was really nice. However this didn't last after about 7 days the choices became fewer, things like herb potatoes and saute potatoes where not cooked properly and was still raw. all the buffet items are in dishes but they are not heated so food is mostly cold or warm when you get it. there was a pasta station where this was cooked and kept hot however they do not cook on request so if like me you don't like tuna in hot pasta dishes or prawns then your stuck. the salad items are nice all seperate so you can just pick the items you like. I don't like salad dressings so it was nice not having the salad all mixed with dressing already on. They is only 1 restaurant and the buffet is too small for the volume of customers so you end up waiting ages so the food is even colder by the time you eat. we ended up going for our meal at 8.45 to avoid the masses. The food is OK just not the standard I've had before in the Maldives and staff our slow to refill the trays once empty. Our waited Javvid was a little star always polite happy and our drinks was on the table sometimes before we sat down. Now for the snorkelling, the house reef is really nice on par with Kuerdu, My husband went diving and said the dive school was really good all the staff are nice and although none on them are british the all spoke really good english and made us feel welcome all the time. we went on the snorkelling trip to the Manta ray cleaning station we did see some mantas but as it was a large group on the trip feel too many people in the water may have scared them off. the coral garden was also really nice but there was a large white tip shark and some of the people on the trip where quite noisy and splashing alot and I think it was getting a little stressed so we got back on the boat. If your doing the snorelling trips check the list and try to go with less people. your'llget to see more as the guide wont have to keep rounding up the people.
They do have a beach party a couple of times a week but we didn't hear anything from our room. The have there own singer who is really good and sings at the cocktail bar every night. the island does have a lot children guests as the italians and germans take children so this does make it less romantic so if your planning your honeymoon i wouldn't choose this island. there was also no room service so if you wanted to stay in or missed breakfast or lunch then the only place you could get food was the main bar. the all inclusive snacks in the bar are not great and it is gone within minutes of being put out. in you want snacks you can order fries for $7 and Chicken strips and fries for $16.50 which we had and was nice (don't forget to add tax).
The seating in the bars is very basic plastic garden furniture and note very comfortable, all in all the snorkelling and diving was great, the bed was large and comfortable the room was clean, with a few changes such better seating, snacks made to order, room service this could be so much better. I booked this though Awayholidays which is part of Southall travel and as I'd never booked with them before I was cautious but there price and service and really good. Would only return to this island if a got an amazing deal. finally the sunset cruise was really nice especially since there was only us and another couple on the boat. the sheet isn't always out so ask atreception. please note there is no wifi only one computer in reception which seems to still be on dial up.
