Me & my wife stayed there for 3 nights. Inspite of the bad reviews that we read earlier, we were impressed and the overall experience was much above our expectations.
We upgraded to Water Bungalow that was worth it at Usd $155 nett per night.
We really enjoyed the crystal sea water and the rich coral found here. The best place to snorkel is the beach near the main restaurant area, we saw baby reef sharks, unicorn fish and many interesting fishes there. The sunset at the Water Bungalow was so beautiful, request for the WB at the right side. We stayed at the older WB that comes with see through glass, we were so excited watching all the sting ray, sharks that swam by.
The newer WB does not come with this but is further from the beach.
Our package comes with full board meals but it does not come with free drinks during lunch and dinner except Breakfast.
We especially enjoyed the ice cream and fried banana desert and the buffet style meals, there is a pasta station and grilled station that serve different varieties everyday. The best was the maldivan night buffet.
Last but not least, if you plan to go go Maldives for the first time, this hotel is worth every cent, remember to go for full board.

My husband and I we decided for this island for our honey moon. Rannalhi is a small island (100m wide - 300 m long 15 min to walk around). Resort is Srilankan owned. If one expects marbels and gold it is not a place to go, but if you look forwards tropical island with beach bungalows, local food, lazy atmosphere and nothing to do - fully recommended. It is just very important to know which option you take - HB, FB, All In (basic all in includes meals, snacks, beer and soft drinks all day, wine during lunch and dinner ) there is also option All in SUPERIOR - that includes all local drinks and spirits all day. - There were a lot of people frustrated because they did not make sure which option they chosen and it appered that not all drinks were included for basic all in. There is good dive point there as well, that is german-owned so the equipment is good quality and well maintained. They speak german, russian, english & italian... (possibly few more) Guys working in a dive point are great and we did couple of amazing dives with them - Night dive, Wreck, sharks...- unforgetable. Guests are mainly german, russian, italian & chinese, but there are also many other nations represented. Food is good, european like with hint of local tastes. Forget about internet (there is access but very slow and expensive) Island is coverd by mobile network, but the rates are very hidh, so make sure that after confirming with your mates that you safely arrived, your mobile is off. While on island, all purchases are recorded against your room so you have to settle a bill a night befor leaving. Cassier is present in reception couple of hours a day, so make sure you know when and that you have some dollars for tips (if you want to give some) Local service is reasonably good as long us you remember that it is tropical island and their 5 minutes last a bit longer that in western europe. Generally recommended, just make sure you know which option you buy, to avoid dissapointment.

Despite numerous negative reviews on here, we took a chance Rannalhi and were pleasantly surprised. Maldives has been spoken about widely enough for me not to attempt to describe the beauty of the ocean, the reefs, white sandy beaches. . . I shall stick to the overall experience with the resort. To begin with, perhaps because we landed on a Sunday afternoon, we had a speedboat ride to the island all to ourselves which was nice :). The island is clean, well maintained and the beach and reefs pristine. Our room was clean, the windows opened up to a partial view of the ocean (would’ve been nicer if there weren’t any interruptions, but I’m not complaining). The sheets were clean and the fixtures and fittings worked well. Probably the only sore point was the abundance of lizards around (though thankfully not in) the room. The staff were helpful and friendly but not intrusive. Gerad at the Dive Centre looked after us patiently during our undersea sojourns. Dr. Shivanti (the island doctor) ensured I recovered quickly from a slight fever and cold. In 4 days we snorkelled, went scuba diving (well i went 1.5 metres before chickening out so that doesn't count!) and sunset fishing- all great experiences. The food was excellent, we were worried about that before we left, but were again pleasantly surprised. .enough choices and all well made, make sure you get an all inclusive package! Water and beverages on the resort are expensive (the drinks package might be a good option for those of you who drink); am guessing here that's the case with most resorts. Though I don't drink any more, the wine collection seemed decent! We most certainly will be back and the next time will stay in a water villa for a week!

I wanted to drop you a few lines as a comment on our holiday on Club Rannalhi.
We stayed in a period from 23rd to 30th January 2011. The accommodation in general was of poor quality and got nothing with a 4* rating. The rooms are small and damp-smelling, the closet reeked of urine so we could not use it. The bathroom is old and rusty and we could not use the toilet one day because of zillion ants crawling. It has nothing to do with the label “Luxury” that they have attached all over the place and web site.
But even if I forget the accommodation, as we spent most of the time outside, the service was even more terrible. The waiters in Cocktail Bar are really “waiters” – they do not go around and take orders but wait at the bar for a guest to come and pick his drinks! The receptionists do not speak English at a satisfactory level, hence giving incorrect information and, on top of that, being unhelpful and rude. Everything, but everything, had to be asked three or more times.
We asked for an ashtray (twice on the front desk and twice by a phone) and were given a rusty old can (see the picture http://i55.tinypic.com/2wexhxe.jpg). And room phones were not working so nobody could reach me. It rings only once and then the line breaks.
We upgraded from Full board to All inclusive and were assured it includes one 'cocktail of the day' per person – it turned out that there was no such thing as a 'cocktail of the day' and instead of fresh fruit juices we got cordials. And “All Inclusive” is a funny term for what a guest gets.
Our room safe broke on the second day of our holidays and was removed to be fixed – they returned it only on the last day. Do I have to mention that I called three times for someone to fix it?
When we lost our room key, it took them 40 minutes to open the door (and me walking three times to the front desk to ask them to finally send someone), which is absolutely preposterous having in mind it takes 10 minutes tops to walk the entire island. And after that we waited for another 1 hour to get a spare key (of course, I had to beg to get one).
The Internet was supposed to be unavailable for 1 day due to room repainting – when we left the island it was 3 day overdue and still not available.
The only things that were good are food in the main restaurant, excursions and the staff in Watersports, and the nature. The reef is excellent but that has nothing to do with Adaaran.
I hope my comments here will change something in a service on Rannalhi. When we were leaving we filled the “Tell us what you think” questionnaire and handed it to the receptionists. Since they were graded poorly I wonder where it ended. I specifically noted in the questionnaire that I want a feedback from the Resort on my e-mail. Guess what – none received!

We stayed here for one night on 3rd January.
We were given a Standard room # 242, while our water bungalow was being cleaned.
The Standard Room was nice and in much better condition decor wise than the water bungalow # 428.
The dining experience was a travisity....... no waiters to take your order for drinks with your meals, we ended up helping ourselves to water from the waiters station so as we could have a drink to ease down the dry, tasteless food that was served as dinner.
Please note that dinner in the restaurant is served between 7.30 - 9.30, but don't get there after 8.30, as there is no one to re stock the dishes on offer, & the waiters (what little there are) are far too busy pampering to the needs of the mangement to tend to any guests.
The house reef here isn't great due to the amount of dead coral around this island.
Think very carefully before you book this island, as there are far better islands in the Maldives, which are cheaper.
