Mirihi Island Resort: The beauty of the resort cannot really be described, even in the best of vocabulary. If it is your first time to Maldives (ours was), you are bound to be mesmerized by the natural artwork. Powder soft sand with crystal clear water, abundant house reef with superficial marine life (We saw eagle rays, baby sharks, parrot fish, nemo, tutles & what not). It’s a complete eye candy & it completely justifies the paradise / slice of heaven tag.
The Island spreads across an area of 300x50 Mtrs which is one of the smallest resort islands in Maldives, with approx 35 water villas & 5-6 Beach Villas, Dhonveli Restaurant (all day dinning), Anba Bar & a lovely Water side Bar & Restaurant Muraka.
Arrival & Check in : We stayed a night in Male & were dropped to counter no.18 at the airport around 8:15 in the morning. We were greeted by a Mirihi Rep (Naaz) who happily took care of our luggage, checked it in on the sea plane counter, handed us our Sea Plane Boarding cards & escorted us in a shuttle to the Sea Plane terminal Mirihi Lounge which was about 10 mins from the airport. The lounge is spic & span, comfortable, Naaz offered us Tea, coffee, water etc., A form was given to be filled in peace with all our details, to be handed over at Mirihi on arrival.
We waited in the lounge and were taken to our Sea plane around 9:30 by a Shuttle (2-3 mins).
Sea Plane & Checkin: Trans Maldivian Airways, the journey is an experience in itself, with amazing views of Turquoise circular lagoons. it was a 35-minute journey with one stop at the Conrad Rangili Island (30 Mins) & then Mirihi (5 mins).
The Sea plane Landed, near a wooden plank which serves as a landing bay for the sea plane. We were greeted by Alexa (she was like a friend throughout) with a big welcome smile & a speed boat waiting for us at the plank to take us to Mirihi (2 mins speed boat ride) .
Finallyyyy...we stepped out at the resort greeted by the Resident manager Parwane (lovely lady), were told to take things slow and easy, relax & enjoy & most importantly let her know if anything we need at all.
Mohammed from the Guest relations team (In house singer & guitarist, he's really good) gave us a round of the island, with little facts & stories and we were escorted to our villa.
Room: (Villa 21): I would use the word "Ample" if not extravagantly luxurious. Bed & linen is top notch. nespresso coffee machine with 4 complimentary shots. 4 bottles of water every day with complements, 2 in the morning and two with evening turn down, Excellent Bose wave sound system. Balcony offers stairs right to the house reef straight away. Villa exudes a Maldivian character; we also had a nice painting of needle fishes in the room.
One simple tweak required is the hot water pressure in the shower (scope of improvement).
Dive center: Mirihi boasts of 5 star,Ocean Pro Dive center. The Austrian team, Philip & Katerina both seem proficient in their work, they are humble caring and very positive all through out. Katerina took care of us in the best possible manner for our first dive, My wife was ready to dive into marina trench if Katerina had her hand in her hand ( mind you, my wife was very skeptical about the whole diving part in the beginning ).
Thanks a lot for making turtle mission possible. We really appreciate the boost and energy from you.
Snorkeling equipment & Kayaks are free to use, and the quality of equipment is good enough.
Food & staff: Chef Felix, Chef Fernando, all the other restaurant & Cleaning staff. YOU WERE AMAZING.
They have different nights each day, Asian, sea food, Mediterranean, Italian, there is ample of food to satisfy everyone's taste buds, in the 8 nights we spent there, there was no repetition of menu. The quality of food was extraordinary. Thanks a lot for mangoes guys. We loved them.
There is lot of hard work and planning that the whole staff puts in to run the island smoothly.
Cheers to the Mirihi team, you were like a family to us, we will definitely be back soon.
