“Absolutely wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2011

This b&b is absolutely fantastic and ranks among the best I've ever visited. I stayed there with my Mom for several days in September, and we didn't want to leave! The house is stunning and beautifully decorated, set in a lovely setting with a relaxing pool. The bedrooms are comfortable and spotless, like staying in a high-end home. The hosts are very welcoming and serve incredible food. They also recommended a great restaurant in a nearby town on the night we wanted to explore the area. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: I don't think there's a bad room.

Stayed for 2 nights on recommendation from friends, and it lived up to its expectations ++. Our room was beautiful with high beamed ceiling, masses of character, with restful and spotless interior design. The food was perfect 5*, and the atmosphere soperific. It is located within easy reach of most of the sites in Dordogne, and close to major roads but feels a millions miles away from the real world. Take a book, and enjoy the serenity.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet, tastefully decorated and have lovely views

This was our 2nd trip to the Manoir and it lived up to all our expectations from the previous visit. Anna and Abel have created something so special - the rooms are impeccably clean and beautifully designed. The food is out of this world and it was a real joy to be able to have most of our meals outside. But it is the level of service that really makes this place stand out from the rest. Anna and Abel are there from dawn until well past dusk waiting on tables, advising local trips and generally ensuring that everyone is having a wonderful time. We brought our two children, aged 3 years and 5 months and we were provided with everything we could possibly need to make our stay easy with them, from toys to a steriliser, baby bouncer and cot. Our 3 year old was given kids' tea which was truly delicious. Luckily we had lovely weather so we relaxed by the pool, but there is plenty to do locally. We will definitely be back!

We recently stayed at the Manoir for a one week holiday and wish it could have been longer A fabulous country house in a wonderful idyllic setting, the decor throughout is exceptional and very tasteful, the food was fantastic and everyday we had the most gorgeous meals Abel and Anna were the perfect hosts. Abel has a fantastic wine cellar and is very knowledgable about wine. Lucy who is also in the kitchen produced some of the most lovely food. We hope to return to the Manoir in the near future.

Room Tip: We stayed in the main house which we found quiet

We recently stayed at the Manoir for one week with our three children who range in age from 2 to 6 and we could not have been more delighted with this beautiful and unique place. From the moment we arrived Abel and Anna made us feel welcome. They thought of absolutely everything to make our stay just perfect. We stayed in a luxury apartment which was perfect for our family of 5. Everything from the beds to the linens to the bath products to the bath and shower were exquisite. The grounds of the Manoir are gorgeous without being at all stuffy. However, what was most impressive about this fantastic week was the unbelievably delicious food. Every dinner we had was better than the next. The food rivalled any top restaurant in London and despite the area in France being known for quite heavy food, all the food was light, seasonal and delicious. Even our children, who were catered for earlier than the adults (our choice) had delicious, healthy meals which they have since requested be replicated at home! The breakfasts were also divine -- fresh bread, fresh fruits, pastries, jams, juices. The play area which Abel and Annas' children shared with our children was fantastic and kept the children happy and occupied for hours. The children made friends and practised their French. We planned to do a lot of sightseeing whilst there but we so happy enjoying the Manior that we hardly left! We loved this place and we hope we will be able to return many times.

How lucky we feel to have found this place and added it onto our itinerary. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We knew from their website and reviews that we would not be disappointed but what we found far exceeded our expectations. We've stayed in beautiful places before but it is the combination of beauty and tranquility that sets the manoir apart. The owners Anna and Abel have done a fabulous job creating an environment that we found completely idyllic. Because of the gorgeous decor throughout the manoir, we thought Anna must have previously been an interior decorator; but when we discovered that she is a physiotherapist, it all made sense. The place has the calming effect that one finds in a spa-like environment. Even their two very lovable golden retrievers were extremely relaxed. Our room was large and had splendid views of the picturesque grounds and countryside and fabulous wood beams unlike any we'd ever seen before. Abel is a chef and wine expert and the meals offered were a major reason we wanted to stay there. The breakfast buffet was bountiful, with warm breads just out of the oven and the dinners were fantastic, truly gourmet. Each evening we couldn't wait to see the beautiful table settings and taste the delicious dishes that had been prepared. The Manoir de Malagorse is truly a very special place.

This is one of the very finest accommodations of any kind that my wife and I have experienced in more than three decades of travel around the world. Refined, unpretentious, welcoming, with exquisite attention to detail, Anna and Abel have created a fabulous country retreat. There are no amenities missing; the decor and meals were outstanding; the room we had was lovely and the entertainment provided by the two retrievers in residence was great fun.

I could not recommend the Manoir too highly and will look forward to another opportunity to enjoy its charm.
