“An Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2012

We arrived at Highden Manor and were greeted by the Manager Steve Smith. Steve is a real people person, a very capable Manager and made us feel so important. He gave us a brief history of the Manor, showed us our absolutely fabulous room (The Highden Room) and the rest of the Manors facilities. The Degustation Dinner was superb and would match and even better some of those we have experienced in Auckland. If you would like a "Trip back in the Past" and a stay in Exquisite Luxury do experience this at Highden Manor.

Room Tip: Undoubtedly "The Highden Room" is the Best room

The meal was beautifully presented, we weren't hurried along and the food was first class. Steve and James kept us uptodate with the way the Estate had been renovated and decorated and it was just such an intereting and great evenng.

Our night at Highden was one we will never forget. The magnificence of the whole building from the drawing room, dining room to our room was over-whelming. A meal to die for and it would have to be one of the best meals we have ever experienced in NZ. It is spring in NZ and the blossoms and garden were in full bloom and the sunny weather helped make it an experience to remember. The building has been restored and makes it one of PN's most attractive stays".

From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the manor, its furnishings and the friendly staff. The two meals we had were fantastic, the service efficient and extremely friendly. Each course was a taste sensation - an experience everyone should try. Our room was extremely large but we felt at home as it was furnished comfortably - the bed being extremely comfortable (the best sleep I had whilst on holiday) The large balcony - well presented grounds - the quietness of the manor resulted in a pleasant relaxing break. To the staff of the manor I thank you for the experience.

Room Tip: Stayed in the Highden Suite - loved it

We stayed at the Manor in the Camellia Room....AMAZING is all I can say, the furnishings, no expense has been spared, the Manor has been refurbished from ceiling to floor with only the best and is all true to the era...Yet has all the comforts of home...from the central heating to the consealed fridge, to the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, HONESTLY no bed has come close!!! The view from the balcony was really nice, I could only imagine how fantastic a summer evening and sunset would look...We loved sitting out there just on dusk and all you could hear were birds, reminding you that you were far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life...RELAX....
Staff are super friendly...The grounds are kept looking at their best, even in the middle of winter and theres been that much rain everyones yards are a boggy mess, they had managed to mow the extensive lawns and it looked perfect!!...
We also dIned there...We had a 4 course meal, we were treated with the highest level of service...From being seated for canape's in the lounge to our departure...Steve and James treated us AND everyone else dinning that evening with the finest quality service, and meals...Can not fault the meal in any way...And Ive worked in hospitality for 23yrs, so Im a tough customer when service and food is invloved...

We really enjoyed our stay at Highden..
My advise to people is, when you enter Highden Manor...
Stop...slow down
Look...remember when this house was built, now look at it all again...
Listen....to nothing but the peace and quiet only a rual setting like this can provide...
Ask...find out all you can about this historic building, Steve will tell you all he can :)

Room Tip: All rooms are AMAZING....but only the rooms in the main Manor open up onto the balcony....These room...

We stayed at Highden Manor and were lucky enough to attend a 9 course degustation dinner that was planned for Fathers Day. It was fantastic. The food was second to none in terms of presentation, taste and service. Price for the food and drinks was very reasonable. Steve and his team do a great job. Who would have thought that a place like this was just out of Palmerston North?!
