We had a great day with my 6 year old niece. This was her first theme park experience and she was tall enough for some of the bigger roller coasters but the size of the larger rides was intimidating. She had a great time on the smaller coasters and the kids rides. They could use some more small family coasters and rides. The bathrooms were very clean though, that was a nice surprise.

For the cost of a ticket, it is a huge waste of money! My daughter and I waited over 1-2 hours in long lines and were only able to ride 4 roller coasters all day! We ended up riding American Eagle 4 times because that line was just less than 1 hour to wait! We got there when they opened and stayed until they closed....over 11 hours! Raging Bull wasn't operational for most of the day and then when they finally did it running, it got stuck with people on both trains! We waited about an hour in line before it got stuck and then waited another 1/2 hour to see if they could get it fixed and finally gave up! Demon wasn't running because of weather conditions?? Just had a very light sprinkle...not enough to even get the streets wet! New coaster, Goliath, was over a 2 hour wait. It's a very exciting ride, but by the time you reach the platform, you are so tired from standing in line with no food, water or bathroom break, you're just thankful the ride is over! Great America is all about corporate greed....they really don't care about the consumer. Long lines for rides, food and even bathrooms! They really don't care about the normal family, who has saved all year to be able to make the trip to just ride roller coasters, because they sell 'fast passes' which makes those of us who can't afford the added extra cost to stand in line even longer! The "fast passes" are really just like line jumpers....not really fair! They should only sell enough tickets for the number of people they can reasonably accomodate instead of making people frustrated all day for having to wait FOREVER just to ride a roller coaster!

Fun, a good value for the money, except for parking, which is expensive at $25. Be prepared for long lines at the more popular attractions (such as the awesome Goliath and Vertical Velocity). There were no lines at American Eagle before 11:30 AM so my son and I went on this 5x in quick succession - this is a great coaster. Park is clean and safe, a nice family environment, and a good way to spend the day. Much less expensive than a trip to Disney World, and right here near Chicago!

First, let me state that I understand the amusement park model. So, I expected long lines. However, let me start with the line for parking, that took about an hour, just to get into the parking lot. Then, we waited another hour to get through security while standing in direct sunlight in 85 degrees on pavement. So far 2 hours and haven't even been on a ride yet. First ride, Superman, wait was 1 hour, ride was about a minute...but fun!!!! Next ride was The Dark Night, 1 hour wait, ride was about a minute and a half. So far, our experience has lasted four hours and we have had under 2 minutes of rides and/or entertainment. I get that though, it's an amusement park. Having become hungry from all the standing in line, we go to find something to eat. First stop, Johnny Rockets, they are having a great "special", 4 cheeseburgers, 4 fries and 4 cokes can all be yours for $44.99!!!! According to the sign that is a 40% discount. I only have three people in my party so we go elsewhere. We go over to Mooseburger Lodge and, you guessed it, there is an hour plus long line to eat. So, we go across the street to Maw and Paws. Line was a little shorter, customer service was atrocious, with everybody working there apparently trained to work in ultimate slow motion. The staff there allowed line jumpers, moved very slowly despite a line of people staring at them and sometimes one of them would just go and walk in the back to take a break. We could see her just standing in the back which caused the already slow two register system to become one register. We finally ate. We are now at five and a half hours into our adventure. Still have had less than 2 minutes of ride time. Next ride, the Little Dipper, another hour wait and another 2 minute ride. Getting real tired at this point. Did one more ride and called it a day. The end result of my adventure is summed up like this.......3 tickets (discounted) $123, parking $25, food $60, total $208 for about 5 minutes of ride time. How could that be considered fun OR awesome????? If we were talking about anything other than an amusement park we would call it a scam or highway robbery!!!!!

Six Flags Great America delivered. We got our tickets online (saving time and money). Ended up doing a train out to Libertyville and cap to Guirnee... fine for a group of adults splitting the cost.

Park is clean. Food line ups surprisingly efficient. Food was sufficient too, what we expected in a park.

Coasters are quirky and some hold sentimental value for locals. No coaster was really a best ever. Goliath came the closest maybe. X flight has a surprising element. Superman is a unique rider position. Most had an option for waiting extra for front: seems fair.

Water park costs $5 for general admission ever. Was good to cool off, but didn't hold us for long. Flash Pass in waterpark wasn't even operating. Drop slides were fun but shorter than other water parks by comparison. Ridges in seems sliced our backs, so once was enough.

Lots of plussing costs: lockers are a fortune. QBot Flash Pass is such an odd system. We did platinum since it was likely a one and only trip. The riding twice is fun but puts people off afterwards as you've just budged in front, and are now holding them back a train.

Employees are certainly "on". They are trained to do this odd thing: always suggesting a ride (or slide) to do next. Made us smile.

Arrive early by 20 or so. Buy online. Get your bearings and be strategic, if getting most slides in for money. Clean, good size, good value. Nothing wow-ed us tons but nothing disappointed either: right on for delivering to expectations. Always good to experience a new theme park though, and try some new attractions.
