The 3 of us (my husband and 11 year old son) spent 2 nights at KeyLime Cove checking in on Thursday and out on Saturday during the Easter holiday. Upon check-in it feels as though you are visiting an island resort. We stayed in one of the Mangrove Suites and had plenty of room for the 3 of us, Friday's maid service cleaned the room before 1pm which worked well for us. The water park is big, spacious, and clean. There was sufficient tables and chairs throughout the water park, and the layout of the area was nice, as well as a nice variety of activities to take advantage of. By looking at the parking lot both Thursday and Friday we knew the place was crowded, but because the floor plan is really spread out, the crowds seemed to be dispersed in a way that it didn't seem that crowded. There are a lot of free activities (cupcake decorating, dancing, animals brought in to pet) for the kids, including the arcade, which isn't free by fun. D.W. Anderson's restaurant has a cool ice cream parlor set-up and gives out free samples of ice cream and free popcorn. The wristband system is a great idea, especially with a child who is young, but wants some independence. It was nice not to have to keep up with a room key card. It would have been nice to have a safe in the room so we could leave our wallets, since the wristband system allows us to go cashless. On another note, the clock in in room displayed the wrong time when we arrived, and after my husband spent some time trying to correct it, he asked someone at the front desk if they knew how to reset the clock. We were told on Thursday that someone would come to our room, but no one showed up until Friday afternoon. It would also be nice if there was information in the rooms regarding what time breakfast is served. (The breakfast and resetting of the clock are very minor things, but can also make a big difference in how you enjoy your stay.) While there are a number of places to eat on the property, we had 2 not so great experiences We ate at The Crazy Toucan for dinner both Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, my husband had the bread pudding which he was looking forward to and thought it would be like the bread pudding served at Famous Dave's Restaurants (which was confirmed by our server), but when he received the cold bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream he was disappointed. The server offered to warm it, but even after this attemp, it wasn't the same. Friday's dinner was even more disappointed, it started with a server spilling water on the back of my husband's sweatshirt. Then the server took our orders, poured us water as we requested, and didn't return until after we had received and eaten our meals. When she returned, she was shocked that we had finished, as we proceeded to tell her another server brought our meals to us. It was also busy that night and it took approximately 30 minutes for our meals to arrive, and another 20 before our server returned to our table. We had to ask her to refill our water glasses when she returned with the check. It would have been nice if 1). on Thursday the server would not have charged for the bread pudding, and 2). on Friday the server had acknowledged her neglect of the table. (Little things make a big difference.) All in all we enjoyed the water park and our stay, and suspect with experience, these servers will get better, and clocks will be programmed better. Plus, my son is already planning our return during the summer with one of his cousins. It will be nice to load their individual wristbands with money to cover their daily expenses for lunch and the arcade, to give them a sense of independence.
