There are only two women staff who were really pleasant at the Miramar apart from this our whole holiday experience was a disaster. The food was awful, for example one beefburger and a handful of chips with a green salad for dinner in a cold dining room. Our room was dreadful, the shower flooded the sleeping area and there were watermarks all down the wall of room 102. We were very disappointed with the level of customer service at this hotel and even when talked about our morning flood, nothing was done about it. The cleaning in the room was poor and the bathroom was not properly cleaned. We were glad to leave on Thursday 6 February. The only good thing about staying at the Miramar was meeting a really friendly couple who made our last night there okay.

Just back from a great week in Port de Soller. Hotel and staff were fantastic for the price. Very clean and maid did the room every day. We only stayed for B,B. as we wanted to explore different places. Best restaurant is Las Palmeras on the front run by a very nice family. The waiter is a real comedian and the daughter is the chef. Their Lasagne and Mallorcan vegie soup were amazing! It was hot and sunny too. I just wish the dog owners would pick up their dogs' poo. It is such a clean place yet there are no signs to tell dog owners to PICK IT UP. You must visit Palma Cathedral it is awesome, Valdemossa is a gem of a town. The Arab Baths in Palma are a must too. Cant wait to get back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a seaview and balcony

I came here as my usual hotel in soller is closed. Much better than expected and will come again in January. The room was clean and well tidy and the site was excellent for the tram. Pity the weather wasn't as good but I'm here every month so it will improve.

Well...Hotel Miramar is basically a very simply furnished guest house with uncomfortable beds, a tiny thin pillow (one per person), paper-thin walls, no air-conditioning, no water pressure and broken wifi. If you're just looking for somewhere to sleep and aren't bothered about spending any time in the room, then it'd probably be just fine. I'm not bothered about stylish decor, but I do like to sleep in a bed that isn't rock hard and so thin you feel like you're sleeping in a coffin. However, if it were just for the room being a bit simple I wouldn't have minded, and would have thought it was worth the money... but the service was absolutely dire. The one lady who seems to work there all hours of the day and night did try to be helpful, but she spoke very little English. We went down to reception to inform them that they'd ballsed up our booking and put us in a poky twin room when we'd booked a superior double. The lady looked confused and said the manager wasn't there but she'd try to get help. She disappeared and returned half an hour later with a man, who told us in no uncertain terms that the hotel was fully booked and they couldn't switch our room. Fair enough, there wasn't much they could do, but it was their mistake and they didn't offer anything at all as compensation. A free drink wouldn't have gone amiss... or even some money back. We were very tempted to ask for a refund and book into somewhere else in Port de Soller, but the only place that wasn't fully booked was the 5 star hotel which we couldn't afford... sigh. We told them we weren't happy with this, and finally they called the manager. He didn't speak a word of English however, and as our Spanish was a bit ropey we couldn't understand a single thing he was saying. The lady tried to interpret for us, and we eventually gathered that he was suggesting we push the beds together. He came up to our room and shoved them together for us, with a big grin and yelled 'Perfeto!!' He seemed to think this more than made up for it. We were a bit tired of the whole place at this point, especially when we realised the taps just dribble even at full blast, and the wifi didn't work at all in our room. The next day they switched our room for us. This one was slightly nicer, bigger, with a double bed... the room we should have had in the first place! The final cherry on the Hotel Miramar experience came the next morning. We had asked specifically what time we needed to check out and were told it was 12 midday, which was nice! No such luck - we jerked awake at 7am to hear kids pounding up and down the stairs repeatedly for at least half and hour while screaming at the top of their lungs. This was a little annoying, but to top it off, at 10.30 there was a loud banging at our door, as thought somebody was trying to get in and when we didn't respond right away it sounded like they were trying to boot our door down! We called to say that we'd be just a minute, ran to the door to see what the emergency was and were met with the cleaner shouting in our faces 'Finito, finito!!!' We were a bit confused because we had definitely been told check out was at 12.... and even if it was 11, why would she be banging our door down at 10.30? So we told the lady we'd be ten minutes, jumped out of bed and hurried to pack our things. We were downstairs at just after 11 but she'd disappeared and there was no mention of it. I'm still not quite sure what was going on there! Either way, we were quite relieved to get out of the place.
Overall.... go ahead and book this place if you can't afford anywhere better :-\ But don't expect any kind of luxury and if they mess your booking up - don't expect them to fix it!

Let me begin with the basics of an average hotel. You expect the room you paid for, pleasant service and water pressure to say the least. Miramar had none of it.

We arrived on a sunny afternoon to a beautiful location and spotted our hotel which was nicely signposted on the roads. When we entered our hotel there was nobody at reception, we rang the service bell and waited...and waited...and waited some more, and after nearly 15 minutes a nice elderly lady popped out from the kitchen to tell us that the receptionist/bar maid/room attendant/the possible joint owner would be arriving shortly.

Another 10 minutes later and we were finally allowed to see the mystical woman. She spoke very little English, but quite possibly better than I could speak Spanish, and she gave us our room keys. We used the nice and efficient lift and found our room...

The wrong room it turns out. We had paid for a double bed, but what we were presented with, were a mile-apart twin beds and horrid upholstery surrounding us. So off we went to complain again, and low and behold, we waited at reception ringing the bell like a pair of idiots until 15 minutes later she appeared again. Of course, what little English she did know earlier, had conveniently disappeared, she couldn't changed our room because she had overbooked the double bedrooms and we'd just have to like it or lump it. After almost threatening for our money back (which would have been detrimental because every local hotel was full to the brim) she offered to call the boss... the boss arrived a few hours later and what a character. He blurted out Iberian slang in my face regardless of my ignorance for the language and refused to hear my point. The receptionist managed to get our point across, that we wanted a double bed, so cleverly he decided to fix the issue.
He simply pushed our beds together, whilst re-modifying our entire decor, the cabinet in the middle of the beds was now out of reach of the plug socket and so we couldn't have a bedside lamp, and annoyingly, one of the beds was slightly higher than the other. So no snuggling allowed for fear of a spinal injury. There were also no pillows, just these strange folded over sheet like objects which were as hard as metamorphic rock.
Did the horror show stop there? No.
The water pressure was so lousy that it dripped out of the taps even when opened fully, and the toilet flush sporadically stopped working for hours which wasn't very pleasant. And to top off the horrid cake, the walls were so thin, we managed to hear the kids screaming next door at 7:00am and the some uncouth bulldozer of a human being bouncing around on the floor above.
The only saving grace, was that we were moved to a double room the next day, which was still shabby, with the same awful water pressure and distinct lack of pillows (don't Spanish people need pillows?) but we had a spacious balcony.

So unless you really don't mind any of the above, stay well away.

Room Tip: Make sure you get the balcony.

Now I understand more why this hotel has such mixed reviews. And when it says basic you should understand what is the real meaning of it. When we arrived it was late and there was only one person who showed us our room. I was so tired after 15 hours flight and had no energy to spend to look around. But we had two small beds instead of one queen as per our request. The water was hardly running and it took some time to wash my hands. The bathtub was not clean at all! Next morning we spoke to the staff and they offered us a studio apartment. The good thing was - we didnt have to pay more. The studio was much better and had nice view over Marina. Still we had our breakfast and we could make one lunch/dinner. The kitchen had everything. Some times we had weird odor coming from the washroom, so we kept the door closed. The beds were horrible. Again two small beds and extremely uncomfortable. The pillows were funny, they didnt fit properly in the pillow case. We were in October, so it was not hot, but could not imagine being here in summer time. Anyway, the location was very good, staff friendly and what you could expect for this money.

Room Tip: Please check carefully before booking. On the pictures everything looks good. Also read all the revi...

Don't expect too much here, but the location is great, rooms are clean, and you get fed.
Drawbacks are the warm water - never hot enough for a shower, but never so cold as to be unpleasant. Plenty of choice at breakfast, but all cold continental except for the hard boiled eggs and the toast. No choice of main course at dinner and never hot enough. But great value for money if you catchit at the right price - we paid £150 pp for a weeks half board.
