“Brigadoon in Oxford Mills - Awesome meal and dessert”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We consider ourselves to be regular diners at the Brigadoon in Oxford Mills. The owner is a good friend of the family, so return visits are a must.

The journey to Oxford Mills can be either QUICK - via the 416, or scenic - via the Rideau River road. Well worth the drive.

Others have mntioned the food prep and prices, but it is the desserts that make all the wait well worth it! To die for!

The restaurant is perfect for lunch or dinner. It is best to make reservations as it a popular place for special occasion (bring an empty stomach and a thick wallet!)

“Very nice dinner but prices are extreme”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We went for dinner but had dessert and coffee only because the prices are over the top. The restaurant is quaint with interesting memorabilia as decor (with a particularly nice selection of Royal items).

“travel to compare”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

last week we drove through New England an sampled the foods, even stayed a night at the New England Culinary Institute. the meal we had at the Brigadoon compared well to anything we had. Safe to say, it beat out one of the best. as for the price, it is worth it, we don't mind paying for a "good" meal and this was one of them. it was packed on a Sat. night which speaks volumes to it's popularity, make reservations and enjoy

“Enjoyable meal”

Return visit with family on Monday night. Service was a bit slow but otherwise very good. Food prep was high quality and very tasty. Desserts were killer! Would recommend for special occasion (bring thick wallet!)

“Disappointing dinner”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

Brigadoon is a reputable restaurant in a rural area that we have visited once before. Its clients enjoy the antiques and historical decorations, but it's expensive, and as we discovered, of variable quality.

We arrived for a celebratory dinner with a large party of friends. Brigadoon was busy that evening, full to capacity and no doubt the kitchen and serving staff were struggling. It showed. Four of us ordered prime roast beef, medium rare, and English-cut. The dinners arrived after a very long wait (3/4 hour). The beef was rare, New York-cut and a struggle to cut, let alone chew. The meat had clearly not been properly aged to tenderness. Eventually someone called the waitress, and we returned all four plates to the kitchen. She arrived back with thinly sliced beef, but by then the pleasure of the evening had sadly dissipated.

For myself, I had ordered a rack of lamb, medium rare. It was good, though not pink in the middle, a little overdone.

Prices were about one-third too high for an equivalent dinner at a good restaurant.
